TV-Series
Description
Kensaku Isami is the father of Yuu Isami and Quincy Isami, and he serves as a primary researcher for the Antibody project. His work is centered within Orphan, the gargantuan alien spacecraft that serves as the series' central location and source of conflict, where he later becomes the head scientist. He is married to Midori Isami, who also works as a researcher within Orphan. Kensaku's primary motivation is his scientific research, specifically to unlock the vast knowledge held within Orphan. This goal is so all-consuming that he is willing to pursue it despite the catastrophic consequences for Earth. He and Midori aim to raise Orphan to the Earth's surface and use it to travel the galaxy, a process that would result in the annihilation of all life on the planet.

In terms of personality, Kensaku Isami is defined by a profound and cold dedication to his work above all else. His obsession with his studies supersedes any sense of personal or familial responsibility. This is most starkly illustrated by his treatment of his own children; he used Yuu and Quincy as test subjects or guinea pigs to research how Antibodies respond to human emotions, showing little regard for their welfare. This calculating nature places him firmly in opposition to the protagonists, who seek to prevent the devastation his plans would unleash.

Throughout the story, Kensaku's role is that of a primary antagonist and a driving force behind the Reclaimers, the organization that pilots Antibodies to recover Orphan's vital disc plates. His actions and his neglect directly shape the backgrounds of his children; his son Yuu eventually defects from Orphan after learning of the destruction his parents are prepared to cause. As a researcher, Kensaku is not typically depicted as a pilot or front-line combatant. Instead, his notable abilities are intellectual, lying in his scientific expertise regarding the complex organic engines and the alien technology of Orphan itself. While his goal remains steadfast, his character does not undergo a significant personal transformation, remaining dedicated to his research and the ascent of Orphan throughout the narrative.
