Description
Guren Nash is the main protagonist of his story and the leader of a new generation of heroes known as the Tenkai Knights. He is a young boy, approximately eleven to thirteen years old, who has recently moved to a new city due to his father's demanding career as an architect. This frequent relocation has been a recurring challenge in his life, making it difficult for him to form lasting friendships, and he has expressed a degree of weariness with constantly having to start over. He lives alone with his busy father and their family cat, Max, and the absence or fate of his mother is never addressed in the story. Guren has a distinctive appearance with black and red hair and blue-violet eyes, typically wearing a red t-shirt over a white long-sleeved shirt, blue cargo jeans, and red shoes.
In terms of personality, Guren is characterized by his unwavering positive attitude and his natural, though still developing, talent for leadership. He is described as fearless when facing difficult challenges and is always eager to help others. He is polite and sweet-natured, but possesses a fierce protective streak, becoming uncontrollably angry when his friends are threatened. Despite his heroic qualities, he can sometimes display a touch of vanity, particularly in his interactions with his father, from whom he craves more attention and quality time. He is earnest and occasionally clumsy, which makes him an endearing figure to those around him. His catchphrase to describe himself is Tenkai Power.
Guren's primary motivation is his sense of justice and his loyalty to his friends. After discovering his ability to transform, he embraces the responsibility of protecting both Earth and the alien planet Quarton from the evil Vilius. He is driven to do what is right and consistently strives to keep his team united, even when some members are reluctant to join or work together. His role in the story is that of the central hero. He is the first of his friends to unlock new and powerful abilities, setting the pace for the team's growth. As the new Bravenwolf, he is the inheritor of the title and power of the leader of the original Tenkai Knights, and his core brick is specifically Bravenwolf.
Guren's key relationships form the emotional core of his journey. His first and closest friend is Ceylan Jones, who was his guide on his first day at a new school and with whom he shares a brother-like bond. Their friendship begins when Ceylan playfully throws a paper airplane at him, and they quickly discover their shared destiny as Tenkai Knights. He is also close with Toxsa Dalton and Chooki Mason, who are initially reluctant to team up but eventually become trusted partners. A significant relationship is with Gen, a rival who is initially an enemy. Guren persistently tries to befriend Gen, seeing the good in him despite Gen's rejection and betrayal, and his efforts eventually help bring Gen to the side of the heroes. Guren's relationship with his father is also important; while his father is well-meaning and proud, his constant absence due to work is a source of frustration for Guren.
Throughout the story, Guren undergoes considerable development, particularly in his role as a leader. While he has a natural instinct for it, he still has to mature into the position, learning to make difficult decisions and command his team effectively. His powers also evolve significantly. As the Tenkai Knight Bravenwolf, he is initially armed with a Tenkai Sword and shield. He is the first of the group to unlock Titan Mode, a form that enlarges him to twice his normal size and allows him to unleash powerful energy slashes. He later achieves Elemental Titan Mode, though he temporarily loses this ability for a period. After being infused with the power of a Dragon Cube, his form changes, and he becomes known as Bravenwolf Tenkai Firestorm, gaining the elemental power of fire which allows him to create and throw a giant ball of fire from his sword. In a moment of great sacrifice, Bravenwolf throws himself in front of an attack to save his allies, an act that leads to the awakening of the legendary Tenkai Wolf beast, which fights alongside him.
