Description
Gen Inukai is a central figure who begins as a formidable adversary before joining the ranks of the main heroes. Physically, Gen is an eleven or thirteen-year-old boy of tall stature, characterized by sharp red eyes. His dark auburn hair, spiky and pushed back, features a prominent emo flip that often covers his right eye. His typical attire consists of a high-collared, zipped black jacket, which he often wears covering his mouth, paired with matching long pants held by a belt with a golden-yellow buckle, dull lavender leg warmers, and black slip-on shoes.

Gen's personality is initially defined by a calm, cool, and collected demeanor that borders on stoic. He is openly disdainful of those who rely on teammates, viewing reliance on others as a sign of weakness, which gives him an antisocial air. This mindset drives him to pursue only power, believing it to be the sole thing that matters. However, this cold exterior is a mask for a past marked by profound unhappiness. As a young child, Gen was positive and outgoing. His transformation began when his mother left, plunging his father into a state of depression and despair. The family unit fell apart, and in an attempt to keep his father happy, Gen forced himself to be a good boy, focusing only on studying and training while shutting himself off from the world and his friends. When his father eventually disappeared as well, Gen felt betrayed and came to hate the world, resolving to never trust anyone again to avoid being hurt.

His primary motivation throughout much of the story is to prove that he is not weak and to secure enough strength to never be vulnerable again. After meeting the Guardian Eurus, he received the power of the Dromus Core Brick, which allows him to transform into the Black Knight, a powerful warrior of the wind element. This power is used initially as a major antagonist and a rival to the main protagonist, Guren Nash. Gen sees Guren as two sides of the same coin and frequently tests him, believing that his own path is one of solitary strength. However, after being betrayed by his former master, Vilius, who steals the Black Dragon Key from him, Gen has a change of heart. Witnessing Guren's unwavering belief in his friends and his refusal to give up, Gen begins to open his heart. He officially joins the Tenkai Knights as their fifth member after unlocking a more powerful Elemental Mode, known as Dromus Tenkai Whirlwind or the Black Knight of the Windstorm.

His key relationships evolve significantly. His connection with Guren Nash is the most pivotal, shifting from bitter rivalry to a genuine friendship, though it is one that Gen accepts on his own terms. He also shares a special bond with his accomplice, Beni, as both have similarly unfortunate pasts that brought them together. Gen is also noted to be a good strategist with a deep understanding of the world of Quarton. In his personal life, he is a highly skilled martial artist, holding the rank of a 1st degree black belt master, and has a habit of proving he is one step above the other knights in any activity, from basketball to chess.
