Description
Prince Niari, also called just Prince or Niari, is a recurring character in the anime Gokudo. He is the son of Mora, the fortune-teller also known as Granny and the Queen of the Magic World, which makes him a prince of the Darkside Empire, sometimes referred to as the Magic World. Because of mistakes he made in the human world, Niari lost the qualifications needed to become the successor to the Darkside Empire. In response, his mother ordered him to travel alongside the adventurer Gokudo and train himself to become a better ruler.
Niari is handsome and outwardly charming, with a sweet and outgoing manner. His defining characteristic is his weakness for attractive women, and he is portrayed as a smooth and successful flirt who is far better with the opposite sex than Gokudo will ever be. He is also vain, overconfident, and something of a troublemaker, with other characters describing him as a womanizer, liar, and gambler whose reckless behavior rivals Gokudo's own. He takes pride in seeing himself as a ladies' man, and this vanity often drives his actions and his constant attempts to outdo Gokudo.
In the story, Niari begins as a rival who encounters Gokudo and loses a battle against him. After that defeat, his mother strips him of most of his powers and forces him to join Gokudo and Rubette on their journey. He accepts reluctantly, though not because he cares for Gokudo; the real reason is that he harbors a crush on Rubette. During their travels together, he functions as an occasional friend and rival to Gokudo, and the two are frequently shown bickering over nearly everything, especially when it comes to Rubette and women in general. As for abilities, Niari is a mage with considerable magical power, and he has a notable habit of using giant robots and other mecha during battles.
