Description
Yuki Mitsuya is an 18-year-old backup dancer and singer for the idol group Mystery Kiss. Athletic with childhood ballet training, she originates from Oita prefecture and considers fried chicken "food for the soul." She joined Mystery Kiss aspiring to become an idol, promising her mother success in Tokyo. Her father's entertainment industry connections gave her an eye for quality performance, though her dancing abilities later declined, attributed to part-time work and fatigue.

A critical revelation exposes that the individual known as Yuki Mitsuya is actually Sakura Wadagaki, an impostor who murdered the real Yuki Mitsuya shortly before the group's debut. The real Yuki had been selected to replace Rui Nikaido as the group's center due to superior skills. Sakura, who narrowly failed the group's auditions, killed Yuki to take her place, driven by a desperate desire to become an idol and financially support her mother in Kyushu. After the murder, Sakura conspired with the group's manager, Fuyuki Yamamoto, and yakuza affiliates to dispose of Yuki's body and conceal the crime.

To maintain the illusion that Yuki was still active and hide Sakura's identity, Mystery Kiss implemented a policy requiring backup dancers to wear masks during performances. Sakura accepted this anonymity, prioritizing group membership over public recognition. Her tenure as Yuki was marked by underperformance compared to the original member, contributing to the group's decline.

Following the dissolution of Mystery Kiss, Sakura's story continues in the film "Odd Taxi: In the Woods," where she becomes fixated on achieving solo fame and contemplates eliminating another person to secure her goals. In the film's climax, she confronts Hiroshi Odokawa, the taxi driver who unknowingly transported her near the site of Yuki's murder and could expose her. She attacks Odokawa in his taxi intending to kill him. Odokawa survives, and Sakura is subsequently arrested for the assault and the murder of the original Yuki Mitsuya, as confirmed in the film's end credits.
