Haruhito Yano is a 27-year-old subordinate of yakuza boss Shigeru Kuroda. He works alongside his partner and bodyguard, Togo Sekiguchi. Yano is a junior to fellow yakuza member Dobu, with whom he shares a contentious rivalry driven by Yano’s focus on extorting larger sums of money, a tactic Dobu criticizes as unprincipled.

Yano communicates exclusively in rap, punctuating his speech with rhythmic hand gestures. He demonstrates cleverness and ruthlessness in his criminal endeavors.

After Rui Nikaido and Fuyuki Yamamoto discovered Yuki Mitsuya’s body, Yano and Sekiguchi were hired to dispose of it. Yano seized the opportunity to extort Yamamoto, demanding half of all future profits from the idol group Mystery Kiss and compelling its members to work for him. He employed Shiho Ichimura in a honey trap operation to defraud Eiji Kakihana.

Hiroshi Odokawa’s visual agnosia causes him to perceive Yano as a porcupine, though Yano is actually a human man with black hair and black eyes.

Yano and Sekiguchi planned a bank robbery that ended in failure. This, combined with their role in covering up Yuki Mitsuya’s murder, resulted in their arrest.
