METEOR

Description
METEOR is a Japanese rapper and voice actor from Chiba Prefecture, born on August 23, 1981. He began his career in the early 2000s as a hip-hop artist, releasing numerous solo works and collaborating extensively with other musicians. His musical activities include participation in groups such as METEOR&CHIN-HURTZ, Aoi Kajitsu, Himitsu Kessha MMR, and THREE PINES.

In 2021, METEOR made his debut as a voice actor, marking a significant career expansion. He was cast as the character Haruhito Yano in the critically acclaimed anime series Odd Taxi. Yano is a memorable supporting character, a yakuza henchman known for his flamboyant personality and distinctive habit of speaking entirely in rhyme. METEOR's background as a rapper was integral to this role, as he collaborated with producer PUNPEE to craft the character's intricate, freestyle-like dialogue, which became a defining trait of the character and a notable element of the series. His performance was well-received, bringing a unique rhythmic quality to the role.

His involvement with Odd Taxi extended beyond voice acting into a deep creative collaboration tied to the series' musical identity. Following the anime's conclusion, METEOR released an EP titled 2019 on July 21, 2021, through the SUMMIT label. This project was conceived as both a METEOR solo work and a character-focused release that explored the backstory of Yano. The EP was produced by PUNPEE, who also composed the anime's soundtrack, and featured contributions from fellow SUMMIT label-mates and Odd Taxi music producers OMSB and VaVa. The album artwork was even created by the anime's director and character designer, Kinoshita Mugi, illustrating the close integration of his work with the series' creative team.

In addition to his voice role, METEOR also contributed as a lyricist to Panama, a character song featured on the ODDTAXI CHARACTER SONG EP, which he performed alongside fellow cast member Chado Horii and producer PUNPEE. His work on Odd Taxi brought him wider recognition, leading to opportunities such as voice work in a commercial for Sakuyama Chocojiro and his first solo live performance in 2022. His connection to the series also fostered international creative partnerships, leading to collaborations on tribute projects that combined anime, video game, and hip-hop culture.
