Description
Helen is a character who first appears in the Duel Masters Versus anime. She is a student at Saint Angel Middle School and a member of the school's choir group, serving as one of its few female members. Introduced early in the series as a follower of the powerful duelist Lucifer, she is distinguished by her eyes, which feature star-shaped highlights.

On the surface, Helen presents herself as a gentle, polite, and perpetually smiling young woman whose motto is "I love everyone." Her outward demeanor is calm and caring, and she is often seen looking after Lucifer, showing genuine concern for his health and well-being. However, this pleasant exterior masks a much more volatile and intimidating interior. When angered or pushed into a corner, particularly during a duel, her personality flips completely. She becomes vicious, using a rough, masculine tone of voice and revealing a frighteningly intense side that surprises even those who know her. This true nature is often displayed to the audience as captions revealing her inner thoughts, which starkly contrast with her spoken words.

Helen's primary motivation is her deep loyalty to Lucifer. This loyalty goes beyond simple devotion to a leader and appears to be rooted in strong personal feelings, possibly romantic affection, as she becomes notably jealous and agitated when she mistakenly believes Lucifer wants to reunite with a lover. Her actions are consistently driven by a desire to serve him, protect his secrets, and support his goals. She is one of the few people in his inner circle who knows the truth about his relationship with Lulu.

In the story of Duel Masters Versus, Helen acts as a key supporting antagonist before transitioning into an ally. She and her fellow choir members explain Lucifer's background to the protagonist, Katta Kirifuda. She later becomes Katta’s first opponent in the Lucifer World Cup tournament. During this duel, her vicious dueling persona emerges, and despite using a powerful strategy, she is defeated by Katta. Ashamed of her loss, she hides from Lucifer by placing a bucket over her head. Throughout the tournament arc, she provides exposition about Lucifer's dangerous "Requiem Duel" ability and his deteriorating health. Later, she and her teammates are kidnapped by the villain Gyou, and she manages to call for help. Following these events, she remains a steadfast supporter of Lucifer, aiding him in his plans and eventually helping Lulu discover her true family by dueling her as a test.

Her key relationships define her role. Her dynamic with Lucifer is the most significant; she is fiercely protective of him and is visibly shaken by any threat to his life. Within the choir group, she seems to be the de facto second-in-command, as her fellow members Yohdel and Justice both show fear when she becomes angry. Despite her initial rivalry with Katta, she grows to respect him and supports him in his final duels against major threats.

Helen's character shows subtle development. While she never loses her dual nature, she evolves from a simple follower hiding her intense personality to a more open and reliable ally. In later series, Duel Masters Versus Revolution and Versus Revolution Final, she continues to follow Lucifer's instructions, such as delivering a deck to his sister when he goes missing. Ultimately, she becomes Lucifer's manager, showing that her loyalty has transformed into a long-term, professional partnership, though her inner tendency toward irritation remains.

Regarding her notable abilities, Helen is a skilled duelist who primarily uses a monocolored Light Civilization deck. Her early strategies in Versus often focus on Angel Command Dragons and the Justice Wings race. Her signature tactic involves using the card Zeek Cavalie, Lord of Dragon Spirits, which provides an alternate win condition by blocking attacks. In her duel against Katta, she used Vibros Heaven, Lord of Dragon Spirits to turn his creatures into shields. A later trump card for her is Southern Renaissance, Resonance Dragon Elemental, which she can summon at a lower cost using its Sympathy ability to draw extra cards. In the subsequent series, Versus Revolution, she changes her deck to a Nature Civilization build, though she retains some Light Civilization cards. Her decks have been given names such as Reward for Sin and Helen and the Snow Queen.
