TV-Series
Description
Councilor Flide is a significant antagonist in the Heavy Object series, serving as a high-ranking political figure within the Legitimacy Kingdom. His position is that of a Councilor, which is described as essentially the highest elected office attainable by someone without royal blood, placing him among the true rulers of the nation who can indirectly influence the decisions of the Sovereign Parliament.

Flide is a corrupt and deeply unethical individual whose primary motivation is the preservation of a world order dominated by Objects, the series' superpowerful war machines. He holds a fervent belief that Objects allow for clean, smart warfare and that their overwhelming firepower is an indispensable pillar of global stability. Consequently, he perceives the protagonists, Qwenthur and Havia, as dangerous threats for having proven that Objects can be defeated by unconventional means, thereby shattering the balance he cherishes.

His personality is defined by arrogance, self-righteousness, and a ruthless willingness to sacrifice anyone to achieve his goals. He views Objects as tools and the Elites who pilot them as less than human, disposable assets for his schemes. When confronted with the consequences of his actions, he rationalizes his treason and murder as necessary acts to protect his country and the world, a justification that masks his true desire for power and control.

Throughout the story, Flide occupies a central role as a recurring human adversary. He first appears as the commander of a joint task force, where he intentionally blocks reinforcements and sends false orders to get Qwenthur and Havia killed, hoping to reaffirm the supremacy of Objects. When his crimes are exposed by the protagonist Princess Froleytia of the 37th Mobile Maintenance Battalion, he feels cornered. Instead of surrendering, he escalates by unleashing a secret, personally trained Elite piloting a second-generation Object called the Exact Javelin in an attempt to destroy the Baby Magnum and cover up his treason as a training accident.

After being imprisoned and stripped of his rank and assets, Flide escapes and continues his vendetta. His final and most desperate plan involves using a brainwashing program known as the Mirror of Truth to control the Elite Pilot Milinda and her Object, the Baby Magnum. He intends to send her on a rampage to destroy his enemies and trigger a catastrophic four-way war between the world's superpowers. This act demonstrates his willingness to manipulate even the protagonists as pawns in his schemes.

Key relationships in Flide's story are almost exclusively adversarial. He stands in direct opposition to the 37th Mobile Maintenance Battalion, particularly Qwenthur, Havia, and their commander, Froleytia, who works to expose and bring him to justice. His relationship with his own subordinates is transactional and cynical; he secretly grooms a young Elite, a 12-year-old girl, to be his personal weapon and shield, showing no regard for her well-being.

Notably, Flide is not an Object pilot or a frontline fighter. His abilities lie in political manipulation, strategic deception, and the misuse of authority. His power comes from his high office, which he uses to divert resources, issue false orders, and run secret training programs for his own ends. He is also a skilled escape artist, managing to flee from military custody to stage his final attack even after his political career had been destroyed. In the end, his own scheme leads to his death when the first target of the brainwashed Baby Magnum is his own hideout, making him a victim of his own reckless ambition.
