Description
Milinda Brantini is an elite pilot for the Legitimate Kingdom, assigned to the 37th Mobile Maintenance Battalion as a first lieutenant. She is the designated pilot of the first-generation all-terrain Object known as Baby Magnum, and is widely referred to as the Elite Princess due to both her noble bearing and her delicate, petite appearance. Milinda is fourteen years old, with short blonde hair and light blue eyes; her eye color is noted to have been subtly altered by prolonged exposure to Baby Magnum’s infrared targeting systems. She underwent intense physical and mental conditioning from a young age, a standard regimen for Object pilots that left her highly skilled but also sheltered from ordinary civilian life. In everyday settings, Milinda often appears expressionless and somewhat absent, but this calm demeanor belies a fierce competence and pride when she is on the battlefield. She is kind-hearted and occasionally sentimental, holding onto good-luck charms and other morale boosters, yet she also displays a naive side—for example, being genuinely surprised by the concept of swimwear and choosing to swim in her pilot suit instead. Milinda’s primary motivation is to fulfill her duty as an Object pilot and to protect her comrades, particularly the two soldiers who saved her early in the story: Quenser Barbotage and Havia Winchell. She quickly befriends them and willingly uses Baby Magnum to support their unconventional missions. Her relationship with Quenser deepens over time, and she shows signs of romantic interest, often becoming jealous when he interacts with other women, a trait that other characters notice and tease her about. Throughout the series, Milinda develops by gradually opening up to the world beyond her cockpit and learning more about everyday life, though she remains devoted to her role as an elite pilot. Her abilities are formidable: she possesses enhanced physical conditioning to withstand high G-forces, exceptional cognitive skills that allow her to solve complex mathematical problems such as the restricted three-body problem under combat stress, and the capacity to analyze enemy weapon systems in real time to anticipate attacks. She also has a surprising range of hobbies, including playing the flute and electric guitar, and even pole dancing, which reflects the unusual breadth of her training. Milinda’s surname Brantini is a reference to a cocktail, underscoring the elegant yet potent nature of her character.
