Description
Meitan is a supporting character in Etotama who holds the position of the Eto-Shin, or Zodiac spirit, representing the Sheep. She is the eighth ranked among the twelve Zodiac Gods and has been serving in this role for over two thousand years.

In terms of appearance, Meitan is depicted as a young girl with a cute and friendly face. She has short, straight pink hair and large emerald green eyes. Being the spirit of the sheep, her design incorporates several animalistic features, including two small horns on the sides of her head and a pair of elf-like ears that protrude from her hair. She notably does not have a tail, which is one of her distinguishing physical traits. Her typical outfit is a nurse uniform, which reflects her primary function within the group, and she is often seen carrying a syringe as part of this medical theme.

Meitan's personality is defined by her gentle, sweet, and deeply caring nature. She is exceptionally friendly and possesses an understanding disposition, which makes it very rare for her to become angry with anyone. Even when wronged, she is quick to forgive and does not hold grudges, refusing to judge people based on their past actions. This compassionate attitude extends to all, as she takes her self-appointed role as a healer with the utmost seriousness and will provide aid to anyone in need, regardless of who they are or what they have done.

Her primary motivation stems from this dedication to recovery and healing. She is responsible for mending both physical and spiritual ailments, a task she approaches with a calm and mature focus, especially in serious situations. Her abilities are uniquely suited to this purpose. She specializes in a recovery system, using her syringed remedies to treat others. Her most notable power involves entering a human s Sol/Lull, which is a metaphysical realm representing a person's emotional core or life source, to heal their sicknesses from within. While she is a capable fighter like the other Eto-Shin, her combat role is primarily supportive, focusing on healing rather than direct offense. This process of healing, however, can expose both the patient and Meitan herself to physical risk.

In the story, Meitan acts as a crucial ally to the main characters. Her key relationship is with Takeru Amato, a human boy who provides the Sol/Lull that the Zodiac spirits need. She initially regards him with general respect and kindness, but this evolves after she heals him from an illness. She begins to develop a romantic crush on him, which can be a source of distraction as she gets lost in fantasies about him. Her relationship with the protagonist, Nyaa-tan, starts off as distant, as the two rarely interact. However, after the events of a specific mission, they are able to overcome their differences and come to call each other friends. A notable part of her development involves her role in preserving the balance among the Zodiac spirits, which is demonstrated when she willingly surrenders her own zodiac seal to Nyaa-tan to support her goals. While generally a pillar of support, one special episode explores a twist on her compassionate nature, revealing that her fixation on the one she healed can escalate into a darker and more obsessive behavior.
