Description
Airi Hayashida is a founding member of the idol group Wake Up, Girls! and a first-year high school student from Sendai City in Miyagi Prefecture. She is a fair-skinned girl with neck-length light-brown hair and blue eyes, distinguished by a small mole on her left cheek. Her family runs a sweets shop, and she lives with her parents and a younger brother. Standing 155 centimeters tall, she typically dresses in long-sleeved shirts or jumpers paired with skirts. Her hobbies include cooking, and she has a fondness for Western confections and cake. Her image color is indigo or navy blue, and her associated animal motif is a shark. Airi is characterized as an ordinary girl who initially possesses no outstanding natural talent for singing or dancing, often feeling nervous and self-conscious when compared to her more skilled friends. What she lacks in innate ability, she compensates for with an extraordinary work ethic and a never-give-up attitude. Her nurturing and supportive nature leads her fellow group members to describe her as the mother of the group, as she is always looking out for their well-being. Her core motivation for becoming an idol was a desire to change her unremarkable self, inspired by watching idols on television and wanting to work as hard as they do. Her journey faces a significant crisis when the group’s producer considers firing her due to a perceived lack of improvement, but she is convinced to stay thanks to the heartfelt support and persuasion of her fellow members, particularly Mayu Shimada and Yoshino Nanase. Following this, she dedicates herself to constant practice and gradually raises her performance level to match the others. Her bond with Mayu is especially close; Mayu teaches her vocalization and performance fundamentals, and Airi’s sincerity becomes a decisive reason for Mayu’s full commitment to the group. Over time, Airi matures, taking on new challenges such as hosting her own regular segment and contributing to lyric-writing, turning her authenticity into her greatest strength.
