Airi Eino
Description
Airi Eino is a Japanese voice actress and singer affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce. She was born on 19 January 1993 in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture.
Eino's path to voice acting began with a strong interest in anime, sparked by watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. While she initially believed becoming a voice actress was an impossible dream, she decided to audition after seeing a call for the Wake Up, Girls! project on Nico Nico Douga. In September 2012, she was selected from over 2,000 applicants in the avex × 81 Produce "Wake Up, Girls! AUDITION," performing the song "Seikan Hikou" from Macross Frontier. At the time of her audition, she was a student at Tohoku Gakuin University, where she studied philosophy in the Faculty of Letters' Department of Comprehensive Humanities, a subject she became interested in after reading Søren Kierkegaard's The Sickness Unto Death in high school. She continued to live in Sendai and commute for work after joining Wake Up, Girls! before graduating in March 2015 and relocating to Tokyo.
Her early life included other pursuits that would inform her later career. She began studying dance in elementary school, a skill she would utilize professionally. In junior high school, she was a member of the badminton club and won a district tournament.
Eino's debut and most prominent role came in 2014 when she voiced Airi Hayashida in the Wake Up, Girls! franchise, including the television series, films, and various spin-offs. She was a member of the real-life voice acting idol unit Wake Up, Girls! from its formation in 2013 until its disbandment in 2019, with her image color being blue. In March 2015, she and her fellow Wake Up, Girls! members received the Special Award at the 9th Seiyu Awards for their activities. Beyond voice acting, Eino also contributed choreography for two Wake Up, Girls! songs, "Chikatetsu Labyrinth" and "Tunago," as well as for Hacka Doll THE Festival.
Following her work with Wake Up, Girls!, Eino has continued to build her career with a variety of roles. She has voiced recurring and supporting characters in several anime television series. Notably, she played Risa Fujiwara in the 2020 baseball series Tamayomi: The Baseball Girls and Kanako Nagai in the 2019 series Cinderella Nine. Another significant role was as Misanaria "Mia" Boruenan in the 2018 isekai fantasy series Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody. She also voiced the character Airi in the 2014 original net animation Wake Up, Girl Zoo!, a spinoff of the main franchise that reimagined the characters as animal mascots. Her other anime credits include roles in Assassins Pride, Grimoire of Zero, Idol Time PriPara, Kakegurui, Kiratto Pri☆Chan, Love Tyrant, and Restaurant to Another World. In 2021, she voiced Mayumi Torimaki in the original net animation High-Rise Invasion.
Eino's work also extends to video games. She has voiced Kanako Nagai in Cinderella Nine, Kokoro Hibikino in Power Pros (Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū), Moe Yoshinaga in Aozora Under Girls!, and America Rhea in Kemono Friends 3. In addition to her voice roles, she has contributed to theme song performances for several anime, including Wake Up, Girls!, Scorching Ping Pong Girls, Restaurant to Another World, and Tamayomi: The Baseball Girls.
A known fan of baseball, Eino supports her hometown team, the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. This personal interest aligns with some of her sports-related roles. On 6 August 2017, she threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a game between the Rakuten Eagles and the Chiba Lotte Marines at Kobo Park Miyagi.
