Description
Misanalia Boruenan, commonly known as Mia, is a young-looking elf from the Bolenan Forest in the world of Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody. Although her appearance places her somewhere between an eleven-year-old and a fourteen-year-old girl, her actual age is one hundred and thirty years, making her the oldest member of the Pendragon group by birth. She is the youngest daughter of Laya and Lia, two elves living in the forest. Mia's background is marked by a traumatic event: she was abducted by the undead king Zen, who intended to use her to unseal the Trazayuya's Cradle. She was rescued by the protagonist, Satou Pendragon, after a cavalry leader named Mize entrusted her to him and died honorably in battle. Following her rescue, Satou promised to take her home, and she traveled with his party. Upon returning to Bolenan Forest and receiving the approval of her parents, she officially decided to stay by Satou's side and became a member of the Pendragon group.
Mia is generally reserved and soft-spoken, often showing a calm and gentle demeanor. She is not overly expressive, but she is emotionally sensitive and deeply grateful to those who protect her. Her motivation is rooted in a desire for safety and companionship; after her kidnapping, she forms a strong attachment to Satou, whom she trusts implicitly. Over the course of the story, she develops a quiet romantic crush on him. Her role in the party is primarily supportive, using her innate elven magical abilities to assist in combat and everyday tasks. She is not a frontline fighter but contributes with spells that aid the group. Her key relationships include her parents, who remain a source of affection and approval, and the other members of Pendragon, particularly Satou, whose kindness and strength she admires. Mia's development is subtle but meaningful: she transitions from a vulnerable, traumatized victim into a more confident and willing traveler who actively chooses her path rather than being passively rescued. Her notable abilities are tied to her elven heritage, granting her proficiency in magic, though the precise scope of her powers is not heavily emphasized in the anime adaptation. Overall, Mia represents a gentle, innocent presence in the group, and her arc emphasizes recovery, trust, and the quiet courage to embrace a new life.
