Description
Oda-sama is a pig who serves as a companion and mascot character in the anime Yatterman Night. In his home country, pigs are regarded with reverence, and because of this he is addressed with the honorific title Oda-sama, meaning Lord Oda. He was originally found as a thin, lost piglet by Elephantus while the latter was working in the fields during Leopard's childhood, and he was taken in and kept as Leopard's pet, becoming part of the household that also included Leopard's mother Dorothy.
As a result of being treated with great reverence and being thoroughly spoiled, Oda-sama grew fat. He has a fondness for climbing trees. He is also able to speak in human language, a trait that the other characters account for with the simple explanation that he is a pig. His pampered and carefree nature positions him mainly as comic relief and as a mascot for the newly formed Doronbo gang led by Leopard.
In the story, Oda-sama accompanies Leopard and her companions, including Voltkatze and Elephantus, as they travel and oppose the rulers of the Yatter Kingdom. He does not drive the plot and instead functions as a constant, lighthearted presence among the group. His strongest attachments are to Leopard, who owns him, and to Elephantus, who rescued him, as well as to Dorothy during the time before her death. The character receives little personal development over the course of the series, remaining a consistent mascot figure rather than undergoing a significant arc. His notable traits are his ability to speak, his habit of climbing trees, and the special status he holds because pigs are honored in his homeland.
