Her kindness surfaces during heavy rainfall when she encounters the traveling Suzume, offering her transportation to Kobe. During the journey, Rumi requests Suzume babysit her children upon arrival. In Kobe, Suzume watches Hana and Sora while Rumi manages the bar, allowing Suzume to assist with tasks. Suzume departs abruptly after spotting the cat Daijin inside the establishment. Later, Rumi provides Suzume with a hat before her departure from Kobe, extending practical support. Her background revolves around balancing single parenthood with managing her Kobe business, and her interactions center on providing temporary shelter and aid to Suzume during the protagonist's journey.
