Description
Eikichi Nebuya is a character from the manga and anime Kuroko no Basket. He is a regular player for Rakuzan High and holds the title of being one of the five players known as the Uncrowned Kings, with his specific epithet being Herculean Strength or simply Power. His name in Japanese is Nebuya Eikichi.

In terms of background, Nebuya is a second-year student at Rakuzan High, where he plays as the team's center, wearing jersey number eight. His physical stature is formidable, standing at 190 centimeters tall and weighing 94 kilograms, which gives him a powerful and muscular build that makes him appear older than his actual age. His appearance includes dark-colored skin, short black hair styled with two stripes shaved on each side of his head, and a very short beard. During his junior high school years, he played as a power forward and had a noticeably thinner frame with bleached blonde-brown hair. As a person, his birthday is on April 30th, making his zodiac sign Taurus, and his blood type is O. He has a massive appetite and loves beef, demonstrating a capacity to eat amounts comparable to or even exceeding that of Taiga Kagami, even intentionally overeating before a game under the belief that meat will make him stronger. His interests outside of basketball include sumo wrestling, which aligns with his love for power-based competition.

Nebuya's personality is defined by an almost singular devotion to physical strength. He is boisterous, rude, and prone to belittling his opponents, acting with an excessive pride in his own build and power. He has a habit of frequently burping, much to the annoyance of his teammate Reo Mibuchi. His philosophy is that muscles improve everything, and he firmly believes that raw power is the most important element in basketball. This conviction drives him to add the word muscle as a prefix to his actions on the court, such as muscle dunk, muscle rebound, or muscle screen-out, as a form of personal bravado despite these moves being essentially normal plays executed with maximum force. He is often called a muscle gorilla by his teammate Kotaro Hayama, a nickname he takes as a compliment. However, despite his rough and macho exterior, Nebuya does possess a kinder, more compassionate side. He once pleaded with Teppei Kiyoshi to substitute out a visibly terrified Koki Furihata, leading Kiyoshi to note that Nebuya is actually pretty kind. He has also shown concern for his teammates, asking Mibuchi what was wrong when he missed crucial free throws.

Nebuya's core motivation and his role in the story are intrinsically linked to his rivalry with Teppei Kiyoshi. In junior high school, Nebuya was defeated by Kiyoshi. While Kiyoshi complimented his playstyle and advised him to polish his skills to become stronger, Nebuya rejected this advice. Instead of focusing on technique, he chose the opposite path, deciding to dedicate himself entirely to building more muscle and raw power, with the singular goal of achieving a rematch and proving his philosophy correct. As one of the three Uncrowned Kings recruited to play for Seijuro Akashi at Rakuzan High, Nebuya serves as a primary obstacle for Seirin High during the Winter Cup finals. His role is to dominate the paint using his overwhelming strength, directly clashing with Kiyoshi, who is Seirin's own formidable center. Their matchup is a central battle of the finals, representing the conflict between power and the fusion of skill and willpower.

Throughout the Winter Cup finals, Nebuya demonstrates his remarkable abilities. He is incredibly strong, capable of going head-to-head with and even overpowering larger players under the basket. His playing style revolves entirely around using his body to its maximum potential. His notable moves include the muscle dunk, a powerful slam dunk using his sheer strength; the muscle screen-out, which is a box-out technique to secure rebounding position; and the muscle rebound, where he uses his power to grab the ball off the glass. He also utilizes a power dribble in the post, using his back and strength to push toward the basket. Despite his lack of focus on finesse, his basic skills are well-honed due to Rakuzan's rigorous training regimen, making him a highly effective and purely physical center.

Nebuya's character shows a subtle but distinct form of development in his relationship with his rival. While he begins the finals eager to crush Kiyoshi and prove that muscles are superior, he respects Kiyoshi's resilience. When he sees that Kiyoshi is playing through a severe leg injury, he does not hold back but continues to play with full force, which can be interpreted as a form of respect from one powerful player to another. His aggressive and blunt nature contrasts sharply with the more calculated and elegant playstyles of his fellow Uncrowned Kings at Rakuzan, Reo Mibuchi and Kotaro Hayama, yet he is an integral part of the team's strength. Ultimately, Nebuya stands as a powerful testament to the idea that in basketball, sheer, dedicated physical force is a weapon that can challenge even the most skilled opponents.
