Imari Williams
Description
Imari Williams is an American voice actor based in Los Angeles, California, known for his deep and resonant voice, which has brought a wide range of characters to life in anime, animation, and video games. Born on May 3, 1977, in Los Angeles County, he developed an early passion for storytelling and character performance.
Williams's path to voice acting began after he graduated from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts in 1996, where he specialized in visual arts. He initially studied acting for film and theater, and his entry into voiceover work happened incidentally while working at a post-production company. He was asked to understudy a commercial voiceover, which led to more opportunities in that field. He booked his first commercial project for the Sony Cybershot camera in 2007 and his first major animation role in 2011 as the voice of Boulder, a fan-favorite character in the children's series Transformers: Rescue Bots.
In the realm of anime dubbing, Williams has established a significant presence. He has taken on several prominent roles, showcasing his ability to portray both authoritative figures and complex characters. Among his most recognized performances are Bercouli Synthesis One in the Sword Art Online: Alicization series, Lassic David in Record of Grancrest War, Lev Aldrecht in 86, Shinjuro Rengoku in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Hol Horse in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, and Erhard in The Rising of the Shield Hero. His filmography also includes the role of Lodin Haijima in Beyblade Burst GT (also known as Beyblade Burst Rise) and the character Rusty in the animated film Air Bound.
Beyond anime, Williams's career is marked by extensive work in other areas of voice acting. He has voiced characters in major video game franchises such as World of Warcraft, Starfield, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 (as Blade), and has served as the narrator for Street Fighter V. His animation credits extend to popular series like Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal, and Zootopia+. In addition to character work, he has a long and successful career voicing commercials for global brands like GE, Burger King, and Acura, and has done promo work for networks including Fox Sports, NBC, and CBS.
Williams remains an active and in-demand performer, with recent and upcoming roles in series such as Sakamoto Days, Pluto, and Hanma Baki vs. Kengan Ashura, continuing to demonstrate his versatility and command across various genres and formats.
