Description
Muhammad Avdol is a central ally in the third part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Stardust Crusaders, and plays a key role throughout the Battle in Egypt arc. He is an Egyptian man and a longtime friend of Joseph Joestar. Before the events of the story, Avdol worked as a fortune‑teller, reading the future through Tarot cards. When Dio Brando visited him, expressing interest in Avdol's abilities, Avdol recognized the danger and fled, contacting Joseph. He then accompanied Joseph to Japan to help Joseph's grandson Jotaro Kujo, who had become trapped in a police cell by his own newly awakened Stand. Avdol was instrumental in explaining the nature of Stands to Jotaro and in freeing him.

Avdol is a serious, dedicated individual who often serves as the voice of reason within the group. He contrasts sharply with the more impulsive Jean Pierre Polnareff and the playful Joseph Joestar. His primary motivation is to protect his friends and to defeat Dio in order to save Joseph's daughter Holly, who was dying because of her own Stand. He is deeply loyal and willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good. He is also a source of wisdom, providing strategic advice and sharing his extensive knowledge of enemy Stand users and local cultures as the group travels across Asia and into Egypt.

Within the Crusaders, Avdol functions as a navigator and a sub‑leader. He is the one the group can rely on for steadfast determination and a sense of duty. He participates in several key confrontations, including defeating Polnareff when the latter was under Dio's control, thus freeing him from a parasitic flesh bud. Later, during the journey, Avdol fakes his own death during a battle with Hol Horse to secretly acquire a submarine that allows the group to reach Egypt. He reveals his survival on an island where Polnareff was fighting the Stand Judgement. After reuniting, Avdol continues to fight alongside the group, facing enemies such as N'Doul and Mariah.

Avdol's most defining relationship is with Polnareff. He acts as a mentor to the French swordsman, often guiding him through challenges and curbing his reckless tendencies. Their bond grows deep, and it is this bond that leads to Avdol's final sacrifice. In Dio's mansion, when the vampire Vanilla Ice attacks, Avdol pushes Polnareff out of the way of Cream's void‑like attack, losing both his hands and his life. He also shares a strong mutual respect and camaraderie with Joseph Joestar, their friendship being the foundation of his involvement in the quest.

Avdol's character develops primarily through his actions and sacrifices. He starts as a knowledgeable mentor, but as the journey progresses, he proves his combat prowess and his willingness to put others before himself. His first apparent death (the fake one) and his later true death highlight the dangers of the mission and underscore his growth from a guide to a martyr. His final act of heroism is a turning point for Polnareff, who then fights Vanilla Ice with renewed determination.

Muhammad Avdol's Stand is Magician's Red, a humanoid Stand with a bird‑like head and legs. It is named after the first Major Arcana card, The Magician. Magician's Red possesses the ability to generate and manipulate fire. Avdol can create flames of immense intensity that can melt metal and evaporate tracks in seconds. He can shape the fire into various forms, such as fire walls, projectiles, and binding ropes called Red Bind. Notable techniques include Crossfire Hurricane, a signature attack that launches a bird‑shaped flame. The Stand's effectiveness depends heavily on Avdol's concentration and the environment. It has a B rating in power, speed, and durability, a C rating in range and precision, and a D rating in potential. Magician's Red is both an offensive and defensive tool, allowing Avdol to control the battlefield with fire.
