Description
Lady Doubt is a character from the anime Mysterious Joker, originally known as Experiment 012. She is a cat who was created in the same laboratory as another character named Roko, and she possesses the ability to create illusions and transform her appearance to look like a human. Her typical attire resembles that of Professor Clover, the head of the secret organization Clover, for whom she serves as an assistant and loyal operative.
Her background as a lab-created being shapes her motivations and allegiance. Lady Doubt is primarily driven by her devotion to Professor Clover, carrying out his orders without question. She uses her illusion powers to infiltrate, deceive, and eliminate targets, often employing a human disguise to move unnoticed among people. On one occasion, she posed as a police officer under the alias Remi Juwada in an attempt to eliminate the phantom thief Joker, but her plan was ultimately thwarted by Joker’s resourcefulness.
In terms of personality, Lady Doubt exhibits a cool, calculating demeanor suited to her role as an enforcer. She is methodical and patient, relying on her supernatural abilities rather than brute force. Her cat-like nature is reflected in her graceful movements and her ability to shift between feline and human forms at will. Despite her seemingly emotionless exterior, she demonstrates a degree of loyalty that borders on dedication, as she continues to serve Clover even after setbacks.
Her role in the story is primarily that of an antagonist aligned with the Clover organization. She appears in the anime first as a minor figure in a flashback to Joker’s childhood, and later becomes more prominent in a side story where her true appearance without sunglasses is revealed. Her relationship with Professor Clover is central; she acts as his right hand, carrying out missions that require stealth and deception. Her interactions with Joker are adversarial, as she attempts to capture or eliminate him but consistently fails due to his cunning.
Over the course of the series, Lady Doubt shows little personal growth or change in allegiance. Her development is mostly confined to the revelation of her backstory as a lab experiment and her deeper integration into the Clover faction. After the castle of the secret organization is destroyed by drones under her control, she is rescued by Joker using his balloon gum, which hints at a possible shift in her circumstances, but her fundamental role as Clover’s assistant remains unchanged.
Notable abilities include the power to generate realistic illusions, which she uses to confuse enemies, create distractions, or disguise herself as other people. She can freely morph between her anthropomorphic human form and her original cat form, allowing her to spy on targets or escape unnoticed. These abilities make her a formidable spy and infiltrator, though she is ultimately outmatched by Joker’s experience and cleverness.
