Chiyome Hesogakure is a kunoichi from a hidden ninja village who appears at the Nohara home, claiming to be Shinnosuke Nohara's biological mother. She arrives accompanied by her son, Chinzō Hesogakure, and asserts that Shinnosuke and Chinzō were accidentally switched at birth, as both infants were born on the same day within the same hospital ward where Misae Nohara was present.

Her lineage, the Hesogakure clan, bears the ancient duty of guarding the "earth's navel." They employ a specialized "Mononoke Ninja technique" to seal it using a pure gold stopper, a vital act preventing the earth from withering and ceasing its rotation.
