Rina Kawaei is a Japanese actress and former singer who has built a career in both live-action and voice acting for anime. Born on February 12, 1995, in Kanagawa Prefecture, she first gained public attention as a member of the prominent idol group AKB48, which she joined in 2010 and remained with until her graduation in 2015 to focus on acting.

Her transition to voice acting began in 2016 with her debut role in the anime film PriPara Mi~nna no Akogare Let's Go PriPari, where she voiced the character Mini-Falulu. This marked the start of a parallel career in which she provides voices for animated characters while continuing to appear extensively in television dramas and live-action films.

Kawaei has voiced roles in several notable anime films. In the 2018 film Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us, she voiced the character Risa. The following year, she took on the leading role of Hinako Mukaimizu in the acclaimed animated film Ride Your Wave, directed by Masaaki Yuasa. In 2021, she voiced Ayane Satō in the short animated film Summer Ghost. Her filmography also includes a voice role in the 2022 feature Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Mononoke Ninja Chinpūden. Beyond these theatrical releases, she has also contributed voice work to other projects, such as the series Gaikan Chiba and the PriPara franchise.

In addition to her voice acting, Kawaei has maintained a prolific career as a live-action actress. She has starred in numerous television dramas, including the 2021 NHK morning drama Come Come Everybody, and has appeared in films such as the live-action adaptations of Ajin: Demi-Human and Death Note: Light up the New world. Her work in film earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 61st Blue Ribbon Awards in 2019.
