Description
Ikkei Takamine is a secondary character from the anime and visual novel A Good Librarian Like a Good Shepherd. He is a classmate and close friend of the protagonist, Kyotaro Kakei, and is easily recognized by his youthful, adolescent appearance. He has blue eyes and short, blonde or yellow hair that typically falls to around ear length. He stands at a height of 176.1 centimeters, has A blood type, and celebrates his birthday on December 25, making his zodiac sign Capricorn.

His background reveals some interesting contrasts. His family runs a temple, yet despite this religious upbringing, he is notably afraid of ghosts and spirits. While he originally gained admission to Shiomi Academy on a karate scholarship, he no longer belongs to the karate club, having had to quit due to a foot injury.

In terms of personality, Ikkei lives by a simple and straightforward personal philosophy. He firmly believes that having fun is the most important thing in life. Consequently, he tries not to overthink situations and prefers to act on his impulses, always aiming to enjoy himself. This makes him a naturally lighthearted, laidback, and easygoing individual. He is often the one to provide comedic relief within the group and is more likely to goof off than focus on serious tasks, a behavior that sometimes lands him in trouble with stricter members of the club.

Ikkeis primary role in the story is as a loyal friend and a foundational member of the Library Club, the group that serves as the setting for the Shiomi Happy Project. He joins the club alongside Kakei and is consistently supportive of his friend. His loyalty is demonstrated early on when he immediately defends Kakei against a false accusation. While he is generally happy for Kakei, he occasionally displays a hint of jealousy over the amount of attention his friend receives from the female members of their club. His motivations are rarely complex; he joins in the club's activities not for grand ambitions but for the simple pursuit of enjoyment and camaraderie with his friends.

His key relationships define much of his involvement. He is best friends with Kyotaro Kakei, and the two are often seen together. He is deeply relieved when Kakei decides not to leave the club, showing how much he values his presence. He gets along particularly well with Kana Suzuki, as she shares his more relaxed and cheerful disposition. He even gives her the nickname Kanaskue, which she immediately takes a liking to. In contrast, his relationship with Tamamo Sakuraba is more volatile, as she frequently disciplines him for his laziness or inappropriate comments by hitting him with objects like a sponge. However, this does not mean he does not care for her, as he has expressed genuine worry when she seems to be overworking herself. He also appears familiar with student council president Maho Mochizuki and enjoys teasing her about her obvious crush on Kakei.

Throughout the story, Ikkei shows a subtle but positive development. He is not a character who undergoes a dramatic personal transformation, but his observations of the club's influence on Kakei leave him both surprised and happy. His initial worries about Kakei potentially leaving the group demonstrate that he has come to genuinely value the bonds formed within the Library Club beyond just a source of amusement. Regarding his abilities, his most notable skill is his background in karate, though it is a talent he cannot fully utilize due to his foot injury. This physical training is an aspect of his past that sets him apart from the other more academically or magically inclined characters.
