Showtaro Morikubo is a Japanese voice actor and singer born on February 25, 1974, in Hachiōji, Tokyo. He made his voice acting debut in 1996, providing the voice for a Mini 4 Fighter in the anime series Bakusō Kyōdai Let's & Go!!. Prior to his voice acting career, he was a member of a theater troupe called Onigiri Skippers, which he founded with friends from elementary school, and it was during a performance of this troupe that he was scouted for the voice acting industry. He is currently represented by the agency Add9th, which he founded in 2018 after leaving his previous agency, VIMS.

Morikubo has built a prolific career with a wide range of notable roles in anime, games, and drama CDs. Some of his most iconic and long-running roles include Shikamaru Nara in the Naruto series, Sōji Okita in the Hakuōki series, and Yūsuke Makishima in Yowamushi Pedal. He is also well-known for voicing Ginji Amano in GetBackers, Orphen in the Sorcerous Stabber Orphen series, Yosuke Hanamura in the Persona 4 anime and games, and Bartolomeo in One Piece. In addition to these, his extensive filmography includes roles such as Akaya Kirihara in The Prince of Tennis, Reiji Kotobuki in Utano☆Princesama, and Kadaj in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

Beyond his voice acting work, Morikubo is also an active musician. He made his solo debut as a singer in 2001 and has been part of several musical units, including the band Mosquito Milk and a unit with fellow voice actor Hideo Ishikawa. He has also performed theme songs for various media, such as contributing songs to the Mega Man X video games. His work as a radio personality is another facet of his career, for which he has received recognition.

Throughout his career, Morikubo has received several accolades. In 2016, he was awarded the Kei Tomiyama Memorial Award at the 10th Seiyu Awards. He later won the Personality Award at the 14th Seiyu Awards in 2020, which honors voice actors for their work in radio and other hosting roles.
