Description
Jet Link, designated Cyborg 002, emerged from an Italian-American teenage delinquency in New York City's West Side. His troubled youth plunged him into gang conflicts and street brawls. During one violent encounter, police pursuit drove him to flee, where Black Ghost operatives offered deceptive sanctuary from capture. Unaware of their agenda, Jet accepted only to awaken transformed into a cyborg within their facility—an experience forging profound hatred toward the organization for their betrayal and violation of his autonomy.

Originally slated as Cyborg 001, Jet was redesignated to 002 when Ivan Whisky manifested superior psychic abilities during development. Alongside Ivan, Francoise Arnoul (003), and Albert Heinrich (004), Jet comprised the inaugural 00 Cyborg generation engineered in the early 1960s. Critical technical flaws—notably unstable rocket boosters and a defective Acceleration module—forced the group into cryogenic stasis for 40 years until technological advancements permitted refinement. Jet later reactivated alongside a second cyborg generation, completing the 00 series.

Physically, Jet possesses a lanky athletic frame, bright red windswept hair, and a prominent pointy nose. He typically dons a red double-breasted military uniform with black armbands and knee-high boots housing propulsion systems. Earlier designs featured a dark green uniform with a red scarf, while the 'Conclusion: GOD'S WAR' OVA depicted deep blue attire.

Jet exhibits a brash, hot-tempered demeanor laced with sarcasm, often charging impulsively into combat. His rebellious streak and resistance to authority stem from childhood voids in guidance. Despite this abrasiveness, he demonstrates fierce loyalty toward allies like Dr. Gilmore and fellow cyborgs—shielding Francoise protectively and monitoring Ivan's welfare. A buried nurturing instinct surfaces around children, epitomized by his bond with Jimmy, a youth he mentors and guards. This connection roots in unresolved guilt over failing delinquent peers during his street life.

His core capability centers on high-output foot boosters enabling Mach 5 flight at 3,000-meter altitudes while carrying three passengers. His prototype Acceleration module permits brief light-speed movement, though its instability and shorter duration compared to Joe Shimamura's (009) refined version fuel Jet's insecurity. During the 'Conclusion: GOD'S WAR' OVA, Ivan's psychic augmentation temporarily amplified Jet's powers to light-speed flight with fiery trails.

Jet's relationships mirror his complexity. He sustains a competitive rivalry with Joe, clashing over leadership and ideology. His dynamic with Albert Heinrich (004) fluctuates between venomous disputes and battle-forged respect as first-generation cyborgs. Though frequently critical, his underlying dedication to team safety and ethical missions remains unwavering.
