TV-Series
Description
"11eyes" is a dark fantasy anime and manga series that blends supernatural elements with psychological and action-driven storytelling. The narrative centers on Kakeru Satsuki, a high school student who lost his sister years ago and has since lived a solitary life. One day, Kakeru and his childhood friend, Yuka Minase, are suddenly transported to a mysterious, desolate world known as the Red Night. This alternate reality is devoid of life, save for shadowy creatures and a group of powerful adversaries called the Black Knights, who seek to eliminate intruders.

In the Red Night, Kakeru and Yuka encounter other teenagers who have also been pulled into this world: Misuzu Kusakabe, a stoic swordswoman; Yukiko Hirohara, a reserved girl with a mysterious past; Takahisa Tajima, a hot-headed delinquent; and Kukuri Tachibana, a cheerful yet enigmatic girl. Together, they form a group to survive and uncover the truth behind the Red Night. Each character possesses unique abilities tied to their personal struggles and past traumas, which they must confront to grow stronger and face the Black Knights.

The Black Knights, led by the enigmatic Lieselotte Werckmeister, are revealed to be key figures in the Red Night's creation. Lieselotte, a witch from medieval Europe, seeks to use the Red Night to rewrite reality and escape her tragic fate. As the story progresses, the group learns that the Red Night is a manifestation of Lieselotte's fragmented consciousness, created through a forbidden ritual. The teenagers' presence in this world is no coincidence; they are connected to Lieselotte's past and hold the key to either stopping her or fulfilling her desires.

The narrative delves into themes of guilt, redemption, and the consequences of one's actions, as each character grapples with their personal demons. Kakeru, in particular, struggles with the guilt of surviving his sister's death and must come to terms with his role in the unfolding events. The series builds toward a climactic confrontation between the group and Lieselotte, with the fate of both the Red Night and the real world hanging in the balance.

"11eyes" combines intense action sequences with psychological depth, exploring the characters' inner conflicts while maintaining a focus on the overarching mystery of the Red Night. The story's intricate plot and character-driven arcs make it a compelling entry in the dark fantasy genre.

1Red Night
The episode opens by establishing the protagonist Satsuki Kakeru's traumatic past, depicting the suicide of his sister seven years prior, an event that left him apathetic and living in an orphanage. His daily life is given purpose through his close friendship with Minase Yuka, a cheerful girl who helped him recover from his grief. During a routine trip to a shopping district, the sky suddenly transforms into a crimson hue, and the moon turns black, an event termed the "Red Night". Kakeru and Yuka find themselves in an alternate dimension where all other people have vanished, and monstrous creatures begin to roam the empty streets. Forced to flee, they manage to escape back to their normal world just as suddenly as they were taken, leading them to question the reality of the event. Despite their uncertainty, Kakeru is motivated by the experience and makes a vow to protect Yuka should they ever encounter the Red Night again. This resolve is immediately tested when they are once more pulled into the Red Night, this time finding themselves directly confronted by the same grotesque creatures. Before they can be harmed, a girl from their school, Kusakabe Misuzu, appears and uses supernatural swordsmanship to slay the monsters, saving them. Observing the scene from a distance are two enigmatic figures, later identified as the Black Knights. Seeking answers, Misuzu leads the pair toward a prominent crystal tower at the epicenter of the phenomenon. During their journey, Kakeru experiences a sharp pain emanating from his right eye, which is hidden beneath an eyepatch. Their path leads them to a chamber containing a girl named Liselotte, who is trapped within a massive crystal formation. The Black Knights then appear and confront the group, and Misuzu's abilities prove ineffective against them. As the Black Knights prepare to attack, the trio is abruptly returned to the normal world, escaping immediate danger. Back in their reality, they discover that Misuzu attends the same school, and she cryptically informs them that there are four other individuals—two girls and another boy—who are also involved in these occurrences. Throughout the episode, both Kakeru and Yuka have fleeting visions of a girl who strongly resembles Kakeru's deceased sister, introducing a central mystery regarding the connection between her death and the Red Night.
2The Girl In The Crystal
Kakeru Satsuki and Yuka Minase are once again pulled into the Red Night, the alternative dimension characterized by its crimson sky and black moon. They are immediately set upon by a horde of shadowy, blob-like creatures known as Ralva, finding themselves in a desperate situation. Their rescue comes from a third party, a skilled upperclassman named Misuzu Kusakabe, who wields a sword and possesses the power to combat the monsters effectively. Misuzu leads them through the desolate landscape toward a mysterious crystal tower, which she believes is the epicenter of the Red Night phenomenon. During their journey, Kakeru experiences sharp pains emanating from his right eye, which is usually concealed by his eyepatch, hinting at a latent power connected to this other world. The group's objective shifts upon discovering a young girl, Liselotte, imprisoned within a massive, glowing crystal. Their investigation is cut short by the sudden appearance of the formidable Black Knights, powerful armored beings who serve as the primary antagonists of this dimension. Misuzu engages them, but her attacks prove ineffective, and she is quickly overwhelmed, leaving the trio vulnerable. At the moment of impending defeat, Kakeru, Yuka, and Misuzu are abruptly returned to the normal world, the transition occurring as spontaneously as their transportation into the Red Night. Back in their daily lives, Kakeru and Yuka discover that Misuzu is a student at the same high school. Misuzu reveals that she is not alone; she knows of at least two other individuals, another girl and a guy, who are also drawn into the Red Night. The episode reinforces the recurring vision of Kakeru's deceased sister, a spectral presence that appears in both worlds, deepening the mystery surrounding her suicide and its potential link to the Red Night. The core conflict is thus expanded from mere survival to include a search for other 'fragments' and a confrontation with the seemingly invincible Black Knights, setting the stage for Kakeru's motivation to acquire his own combat abilities.
3The Lonely Pride
Kakeru Satsuki approaches Misuzu Kusakabe with a request to learn swordsmanship, seeking the means to defend himself and Yuka Minase during their involuntary transfers to the Red Night. Misuzu initially refuses, deeming him unprepared and untrained for the rigors of combat. The episode depicts his persistence as he observes her training, highlighting his motivation to overcome his powerlessness in the face of the recurring threat. The narrative focuses on the gap between intent and capability, as Kakeru's desire to protect does not translate into immediate skill. A subsequent displacement to the Red Night forces the characters into a direct confrontation with the creatures that inhabit that dimension. During this encounter, Kakeru and Yuka are forced to hide, illustrating their continued vulnerability despite his aspirations. Misuzu engages the enemies, though the battle demonstrates that even her established abilities are tested by the opposition. The conflict serves to reinforce the immediate danger posed by the Red Night and the inadequacy of conventional responses. By the episode's conclusion, Kakeru's determination is tempered by the reality of his situation, setting the stage for his continued pursuit of power. The episode advances the core plot by solidifying the character dynamics and the central conflict of survival against supernatural forces.
4Episode 4
The episode continues to focus on Kakeru's frustration with his inability to contribute to the group's defense during the Red Night, a problem that remains unresolved as the episode concludes. Following the previous encounter with the Black Knights, the group dynamic shifts to include Yukiko Hirohara, whose motivations and true nature become a central point of tension. The narrative progresses when the familiar characters are once again transported into the Red Night, where they are immediately set upon by two of the enigmatic Black Knights. This direct confrontation forces the protagonists into a defensive battle, highlighting their reliance on Misuzu Kusakabe's combat prowess. A significant turning point occurs when Yukiko removes her glasses, an act that signals a drastic and unexplained change in her demeanor and capabilities. This transformation alters the immediate power balance within the conflict, introducing an element of uncertainty about her allegiance and origins. The skirmish with the Black Knights serves as the primary conflict, pushing the characters to their limits and leaving the outcome of the encounter hanging in the balance. Throughout these events, Kakeru's primary motivation to protect his childhood friend Yuka Minase is tested, yet his latent power remains dormant, increasing the stakes for the group. The episode concludes without a clear resolution to the fight, leaving the fate of the protagonists uncertain and emphasizing the growing threat posed by the Black Knights. Yukiko's unexpected actions create immediate consequences, casting doubt on her past interactions and setting the stage for future confrontations based on this newly revealed aspect of her identity.
5For My Friends and For Tomorrow
Kakeru's primary motivation remains the protection of Yuka, but he continues to struggle with accessing his latent power, a source of growing frustration. Concern for Yuka's well-being after she collapses from poor health brings them to the school infirmary, where they are confronted by Takahisa. Takahisa's blunt remarks create tension with Kakeru, highlighting the differing perspectives within the group. However, the school nurse, Aiko, intervenes and later reveals her unexpected familial connection to Takahisa, providing context for his behavior and background. This development in their relationship offers a brief respite from the supernatural conflict. The calm is shattered when the group is once again involuntarily transported to the Red Night, the alternate dimension where they face constant danger. Upon arrival, Kakeru finds himself in a direct confrontation with one of the Black Knights, the powerful adversaries who seem to orchestrate the threats within the Red Night. Unlike previous encounters where the group fought together, this battle isolates Kakeru, forcing him into a one-on-one struggle. The immediate consequence of this encounter is the heightened stakes for Kakeru, as his inability to defend himself and Yuka against the Black Knight becomes critically apparent. The episode establishes that the pressure of this direct threat to Yuka's safety is the crucible in which Kakeru's dormant abilities must either awaken or fail, setting the stage for a potential turning point in his capabilities.
6心乱れて
Following his collapse from the activation of the Eye of Aeon, Kakeru Satsuki remains in a coma, tormented by visions of his past. Misuzu Kusakabe performs an esoteric ritual to heal him, during which the Eye of Aeon activates again, allowing for a meeting of past and present consciousnesses. Kakeru awakens the following morning, restored, finding an exhausted Misuzu collapsed in his lap. Yuka Minase arrives to check on him and misinterprets this scene, leading her to flee in distress. During a subsequent breakfast with the group, Misuzu experiences a dizzy spell; Kakeru's immediate concerned response intensifies Yuka's feelings of jealousy and alienation. Yuka runs away, and Kakeru follows her to the school rooftop, where he clarifies that his relationship with Misuzu is purely platonic. In response, Yuka confesses her romantic feelings for him and requests a kiss to formalize their relationship; Kakeru refuses, prompting Yuka to flee again. As Kakeru attempts to pursue her, the Red Night descends upon them. The fragments find themselves in a standoff with the Black Knights. As Misuzu and Yukiko prepare to engage in battle, Kukuri unexpectedly unleashes her formidable power, effortlessly slaughtering the nightmare creatures and one of the Black Knights. After the fragments regroup, Takahisa discovers Yuka's tattered backpack, implying she is in grave danger within the Red Night. The episode concludes with Kakeru desperately searching for Yuka, fearing the worst.
7Twisted Awakening
During a Red Night, the group discovers Yuka is missing after Takahisa finds her destroyed penguin doll in a ransacked nurse's office, prompting them to split up to search for her. Kakeru and Takahisa search the school while Misuzu, Yukiko, and Kukuri search the city, as the Black Knights' fragment Lissette awakens alone and tests the boundaries of her crystal prison. Yukiko locates Yuka at a temple, where Yuka expresses her distress over feeling powerless and her belief that Kakeru is growing distant from her, leading Yukiko to share insights from her own violent past. The search intensifies when the wounded Black Knight Scholastica disintegrates before Kakeru and Takahisa's eyes, after which Misuzu reunites with them and Invidia appears seeking revenge for injuries sustained in a previous encounter. Kakeru activates the Eye of Aeon to combat Invidia, landing a significant blow before debilitating pain overcomes him, while Superbia engages Misuzu in combat and demonstrates knowledge of Misuzu's Onmyoji heritage from the Kusakabe clan. Takahisa continues his struggle against Invidia until both combatants reach their limits, at which point Yukiko and Kukuri arrive and launch their own attack. Invidia traps the group in a cyclone and threatens them with her explosive blood, creating a desperate situation that draws Yuka back to the scene. Upon seeing Kakeru in danger, Yuka cries out and inadvertently activates her latent nullification power, which cancels Invidia's abilities, Misuzu's sword, and Kukuri's chains simultaneously. Yukiko seizes the opportunity to fatally stab the now-powerless Invidia, after which Misuzu explains that Yuka possesses the dangerous ability to negate the powers of both enemies and allies alike. The episode concludes with Yuka collapsing from exhaustion due to overexertion of her newly manifested power, followed by a flashback showing a woman mourning Vlad's death and vowing to destroy the world as he wished.
8The Witching Hour
The Black Knights discuss their pursuit of the Fragments, with Superbia commenting on the danger of innocence. Yuka Minase regains consciousness and finds Kakeru Satsuki watching over her, leading her to declare her wish to protect him. Misuzu Kusakabe and Takahisa Tajima discuss Yuka's newly awakened power and the reasons they are targeted in the Red Night. Kakeru confronts Kukuri about the notebook and asks her to stay away from Yuka. Misuzu takes Kakeru to her dojo and reveals her suspicion that the Black Knight Superbia is actually Misao Kusakabe, a disgraced ancestor from seventy years prior. To provide Kakeru with the power to combat this threat, Misuzu cuts herself and offers him her blood, a act of forbidden magic that transfers the Kusakabe family's power. Yuka inadvertently witnesses this intimate exchange and subsequently experiences a blackout. Upon awakening, she finds Kakeru and Misuzu engaged in a duel, where Kakeru, now empowered, successfully predicts and lands a blow on Misuzu. Yuka then enters and, in a display of her altered state, licks Misuzu's blood, mirroring Kakeru's earlier action. Elsewhere, Yukiko Hirohara finds Takahisa at school, and they share a warm moment. At the Satsuki household, Kakeru and Yuka are startled by a noise; Kakeru discovers their classmate Shiori, who attacks him with magic and cryptically states that he is the one who awakened the demon. In a parallel development, Takahisa and Yukiko go to meet their teacher Saeko, only to find her murdered and magically suspended, with Superbia seated nearby.
9Broken Bonds
The episode depicts the long-anticipated invasion of the characters' real world by the Black Knights, shattering the perceived safety of their daily lives. Superbia executes her plan to destroy the group's cohesion by directly attacking their personal lives and psychological foundations. Aiko's death in the real world, witnessed by Kensaku, serves as the immediate catalyst for his violent rampage and emotional collapse. Kensaku's subsequent rampage demonstrates the effectiveness of Superbia's strategy, as his grief transforms him into a threat rather than an ally. Yukiko is left to confront the rampaging Kensaku, forcing her into a direct confrontation with a former comrade. Meanwhile, Misuzu departs with Kakeru and Yuka to address the larger threat, a decision that highlights the necessity of splitting the group's already strained resources. The narrative structure purposefully isolates characters, placing each member in distinct, one-on-one conflicts that test their individual resolves. The episode emphasizes the high personal cost of the conflict, as the battleground shifts from the Red Night to their own homes and relationships. The immediate consequence is the fracturing of the group, with bonds of friendship and trust being directly targeted and broken. The episode sets the stage for individual confrontations driven by grief, revenge, and a desperate need for protection. The script for this episode was written by Mayori Sekijima.
10The Witch Awakens
Shiori provides Kakeru and Misuzu with a comprehensive explanation of the Red Night's origin. Liselotte, also known as Lisette, is a witch who sought to destroy the world 64 years prior to fulfill the wish of her lover, Verard. She was sealed away by an individual named Index, an act which transformed her disciples into the monstrous Black Knights who now guard her prison. The Black Knights' objective is to destroy the seven fragments of the Void Stone, which are currently gathered within the bodies of the protagonists in the Red Night. If all fragments are collected, Liselotte's seal will break, opening a gate to Hell via the black moon and bringing about the end of the world. Motivated by grief over Takahisa Tajima's death, Yukiko Hirohara independently confronts the Black Knight Superbia to seek vengeance. The Red Night manifests, and Yuka Minase exhausts herself by using her power to nullify the attacking monsters, leading Kakeru to leave her resting in a safe room while he joins the search for Yukiko. During her solo battle, Yukiko is overpowered by Superbia, who extracts the Void Stone fragment from her body, resulting in Yukiko's death due to her inability to regenerate without it. Kakeru, Misuzu, and Momono arrive at the scene to discover Yukiko's lifeless body. Yuka suddenly appears, seizes Yukiko's fragment from the Black Knights, and deliberately casts it onto Lisette's seal. This act destroys the seal, fully awakening Liselotte and shifting the balance of power decisively.
11The Option of Destruction
Liselotte awakens fully and immediately moves to absorb Yuka's fragment of the Void Stone, killing her in the process. Kakeru witnesses a flashback of these events and attempts to reflect the power with his Eye of Aeon, but he is unsuccessful, and Liselotte absorbs the fragment to increase her own power. To protect the remaining fragments, Avaritia teleports Misuzu and Kakeru out of the Red Night, while Shiori chooses to stay behind and fight Liselotte alongside Superbia and Avaritia in his dragon form, Georgius. As Shiori is about to be absorbed and killed by Liselotte, Kukuri suddenly appears and transforms into Abraxas. Superbia attempts to hold Liselotte still so Avaritia can fire a blast at them. In the aftermath of the battle, a crack opens, leading Kakeru and Misuzu to discuss what to do if the others have failed. Misao Kusakabe appears behind them, informing them that Avaritia is dead, Abraxas has been killed, and Shiori has committed suicide. She implies that this fate may await Misuzu and Kakeru as well before she disappears. Yuka then emerges from the crack, but as Kakeru approaches her, Liselotte, using Yuka's body, stabs him and absorbs both his body and the Eye of Aeon, followed by Misuzu. In a moment of reflection, Liselotte recalls her conversation with Verard about destroying the world, and everyone appears to be dead. Yuka then comments that "the two of them lived happily ever after," though Kakeru, still conscious, disagrees with this ending. The episode culminates in the complete defeat of the protagonists and the seeming success of the witch's plan.
12The Dawn of Darkness
The final episode reveals that the entirety of the previous episode was a vision of a potential future, seen through Kakeru's Eye of Aeon. Determined to prevent this catastrophic outcome where Yuka is killed, Kakeru attempts suicide to destroy his eye and deny Liselotte her goal. His suicide attempt fails because Yuka's nullification power unconsciously activates, rendering his sword harmless and leaving him unconscious in the infirmary alongside an exhausted Yuka. Shiori appears and introduces the spirit Abraxas, who reveals that Kakeru's sister Kukuri is still alive and was the host for this entity. The group's reunion is cut short when the Black Moon's influence absorbs Yuka, and Liselotte seals her within a crystal on the rooftop to neutralize her nullification ability. Kakeru demands Yuka's return, and the remaining Black Knights, Superbia and Avaritia, temporarily intervene to assist the group against Liselotte. Using the time bought by Avaritia and Superbia, Abraxas provides Shiori's space-time fragment to Kakeru, allowing him to combine it with his Eye of Aeon. Kakeru successfully opens a dimensional rift and, with Avaritia's hindrance, seals both Avaritia and Liselotte within it. With Liselotte's disappearance, Yuka is freed and the Red Night begins to collapse. Misao uses the last of her power to transport Kakeru, Yuka, and Misuzu back to the real world, which has been rewritten into a peaceful timeline where their other allies are alive but retain no memory of them or the Red Night. In the aftermath, only Kakeru, Yuka, and Misuzu remember the events. The episode closes with Kakeru perceiving the Black Moon still present in the sky, and text on screen hints at an uncertain future.
