Description
Lisette Vertorre, also known as Lisette Weltall, is a young girl who first appears trapped within a massive red crystal, guarded by the Black Knights inside the Red Night. She is physically small and delicate, standing about 145 centimeters tall, with very long white hair and blue or green eyes. Her origins date back to the year 1195 in the town of Beziers, where she lived a peaceful life that was shattered when a crusade reached her hometown. The town was burned, her family and everyone she knew were killed, and Lisette herself was captured, assaulted, and left for dead on the roadside. Broken and filled with hatred, she was approached by a man named Michele Maximilien, who offered her a chance to take revenge upon the world. She accepted and was given the VoidStone, a powerful magical item that fused with her soul. This event caused her dark ego, Lieselotte Werckmeister, to become the dominant personality and take over her body. The dark ego, later known as the Witch of Lust and the Witch of Babylon, became one of the most powerful witches in Europe, studying magic under the magus Werckmeister of the Royal Roman Empire. Her primary motivation was a deep desire to die, as her new existence made her unable to perish, forcing her to experience pain and suffering repeatedly. She searched for a way to end her own life, eventually seeking the Eye of Aeon, a prophetic artifact held by the Drasuvania Royal Family, which played a role in the broader events of the story. Over time, a forbidden spell imprisoned the original innocent personality of Lisette inside the crystal, where she was guarded by the Black Knights within the Red Night dimension. In this state, she appears as the Maiden of the Crystal Palace, a seemingly helpless girl who pleads with the main characters to rescue her. However, it is eventually revealed that the Black Knights are connected to her, and that her presence is central to the existence of the Red Night itself. The split between Lisette and Lieselotte represents a divided self: one side retains the innocent, victimized girl who longs for freedom, while the other embodies centuries of accumulated hatred, despair, and magical power. Her direct connection to the Red Night serves as the primary motivation for the entire story, as the main characters seek to understand and resolve the phenomenon. Her relationships with the other characters are defined by this mystery, as they initially see her as a victim to be saved, only to discover the darker truth behind her nature. Her notable abilities stem from the VoidStone, which grants her immense magical power and connects her to the Red Night, allowing her to influence the alternate dimension itself. She also exhibits a form of split personality, with the two personas representing different responses to trauma and suffering. Throughout the narrative, her development revolves around the conflict between these two selves and the resolution of her centuries-long anguish.
