Description
Hikaru Osari is a character from the B-PROJECT multimedia franchise, appearing as an idol in the unit MooNs. He was born on May 9th, making him nineteen years old, stands 177 centimeters tall, and has O-type blood. His physical appearance is distinctive, characterized by green hair that he typically styles in a half-ponytail, often including a single braided strand, while his eyes are a mix of brown and green with a yellow highlight. During his free time, he prefers clothing with bold and varied patterns.
Hailing from the Kansai region, specifically Osaka, Hikaru grew up in a close-knit family that runs a takoyaki and okonomiyaki restaurant. His father passed away, leaving his mother to raise Hikaru and his three younger siblings on her own. Witnessing his mother's hardships instilled in him a powerful work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility to support his family financially. It was his mother who, without his knowledge, submitted his application to the talent agency Bambi, setting him on the path to becoming an idol. During his audition, he met Momotaro Onzai and Mikado Sekimura, and on his first day of training, he met and befriended Tatsuhiro Nome.
Hikaru is the embodiment of energy and cheerfulness, serving as the primary mood-maker for his group. He possesses a strong service spirit and excellent communication skills, allowing him to easily connect with a wide variety of people, even those who speak a different language, and he is notably popular with children, a skill he honed from caring for his siblings. However, his exuberant nature can also make him seem frivolous, loud, and clumsy. He has a tendency to become overexcited and lacks a strong sense of danger, which can sometimes cause trouble for those around him. Beneath this bright and seemingly carefree exterior lies a significant private struggle. Hikaru has an incurable chronic illness that can cause him to cough blood when he overexerts himself, though it can be managed with regular medication. He deliberately hides this condition from the public and his fans, using his lively demeanor to deflect any potential pity, and he insists that as long as he has his family and friends with him, he can endure the pain.
His primary motivation is to work hard and bring financial security and ease to his family, a goal that drives him to put maximum effort into even the smallest jobs. Within the story, his role is to be the energetic heart of MooNs, leading the team with his vibrant performances, though sometimes to the point of pushing himself too hard, which becomes a central point of conflict in his relationships.
Hikaru’s most significant relationship is with his childhood friend and fellow MooNs member, Tatsuhiro Nome, who often acts as his unofficial caretaker, quietly managing his antics and worrying about his health. Their contrasting personalities—Hikaru’s explosive energy against Tatsuhiro’s calm stability—complement each other, and Tatsuhiro is shown to be one of the few people truly aware of Hikaru’s illness and the stress he puts on his body. He also shares a positive relationship with Tsubasa, the group's A&R staff member, whom he quickly befriended. He often helps fix her hair when it becomes messy, a skill he developed from braiding his younger sisters' hair before school. His family has grown close to her as well, with one of his sisters even jokingly calling her a good marriage candidate for him. Despite his seemingly carefree attitude, he is respected by others, such as Kento Aizome from the unit THRIVE, who considers Hikaru stylish and often uses him as a model for his self-produced fashion brand.
Over the course of the series, Hikaru shows development in learning to balance his enthusiastic commitment to his idol duties with the need to manage his health. While initially very prone to overexertion, he gradually learns to accept quiet, subtle support from Tatsuhiro and others without feeling that he is being pitied.
Beyond his idol activities, Hikaru has several notable abilities and quirks. He is an expert in hairstyling, capable of creating his own complex hairdo and helping others with theirs. His hobbies include playing games, and he has a big appetite, with a particular fondness for bananas and various flavors of fried chicken from a place called 'Karaage Man'. He enjoys riding roller coasters but dislikes blueback fish and is known to cry easily at emotional movies, dramas, or commercials that feature themes of family or animals. He holds a driver's license, though he is considered the worst driver in MooNs. He also practices a special wish-making method taught to him by his mother, which is the reason he continues to grow his hair long.
