Description
Hamrio Musica, introduced as a silver-claimer and the leader of the Silver Rhythm Gang, is a key traveling companion of Haru Glory in Rave Master. Born into the Musica family, he is the grandson of Galein Musica, the legendary blacksmith who forged the Ten Commandments sword. When Musica was young, his family was slaughtered by Lance, a member of the Demon Card organization, using a sword that his own grandfather had crafted. After this tragedy, Musica was taken in and raised by a man named Rize, another silver-claimer, who taught him how to manipulate silver. On his deathbed, Rize asked Musica to find and destroy a weapon known as the Silver Ray, a task that becomes a personal mission for him.
Musica’s personality is marked by a confident and assertive demeanor, often displaying a cocky grin and a willingness to take on any challenge. He has a noted weakness for attractive women and does not hesitate to flirt, yet this lightness is balanced by a deep sense of loyalty and responsibility toward his friends and crew. He is intelligent and resourceful, capable of both strategic thinking and quick improvisation in battle. Despite his sometimes roguish exterior, Musica is compassionate and holds his own moral code, never abandoning those who rely on him.
His primary motivation stems from the loss of his family and the promise he made to Rize. The search for the Silver Ray, later revealed to be the Oni Fortress River Saly, drives much of his early journey with Haru. He also seeks to honor his family’s legacy and to stop Demon Card’s atrocities. Over time, his purpose expands to include supporting Haru’s quest to gather the Rave stones and defeat the forces of darkness, finding a new sense of belonging within the group known as the Rave Warriors.
Musica’s role in the story is that of a steadfast ally and one of Haru’s strongest friends. He is often the one who provides backup during major battles, uses his silver manipulation to create weapons and defenses, and pilots the flying ship Advent to transport the group. His combat skills and expertise make him an essential member of the team, and he frequently fights alongside Haru, matching his intensity and resolve.
Key relationships include his close bond with Haru Glory, whom he respects as a fellow fighter and trusts without question. He shares a complicated but ultimately supportive connection with Reina, a childhood friend who later becomes an ally; her admiration for him and their shared history help him face his past. Musica also interacts with Elie, developing a protective attitude toward her, though he never challenges Haru’s deep bond with her. His grandfather Galein briefly appears, and while neither acknowledges the relationship openly, Musica carries the knowledge of his lineage with quiet significance.
Musica undergoes notable development throughout the series. He begins as a lone thief haunted by his past, using his skills for his own goals. After joining Haru, he grows into a dependable warrior who prioritizes the safety of his companions and the success of their mission. His confrontation with the Silver Ray and the subsequent battle with Ogre allow him to fulfill his promise to Rize and gain a new weapon, the Ocean-Rending Spear Silver Ray, which he wields alongside his own silver. This moment marks a turning point where he fully accepts his heritage and moves beyond his grief.
Musica’s most notable ability is silver claiming, the power to manipulate silver into any form he desires. He can shape it into weapons such as spears, blades, or projectiles, and can also use it defensively. His skill allows him to fight effectively against a variety of opponents. After the Silver Ray is reforged as a spear, he incorporates it into his fighting style, gaining an even more powerful and versatile tool. He is also an expert in armed hand-to-hand combat and demonstrates proficiency in piloting aircraft.
