Description
Gija is the current bearer of the White Dragon's power and the first of the four legendary Dragon Warriors to join Yona on her journey. Raised in a hidden village deep within the forest, his entire life has been shaped by the prophecy that he would one day serve the reincarnation of King Hiryuu, the legendary founder of the Kohka Kingdom. As such, he is deeply devout and views his purpose in life as being the shield and sword for Yona, whom he immediately recognizes and accepts as his master.

His appearance is as striking as his devotion. Gija is a tall young man with fair skin, sharp blue eyes, and long silver hair that falls past his shoulders, with a longer fringe often covering part of his face. He is consistently described as very handsome, a fact he is aware of but does not dwell upon. His traditional white and blue robes reflect his village's heritage. The most notable feature, however, is his right hand, which manifests as a white dragon's claw covered in scales. He typically keeps this hand wrapped in bandages to hide it from public view, but he does not feel shame for it. On his back are four long, prominent scars, inflicted by his own father, the previous White Dragon, in a jealous rage over the transfer of their dragon powers. Gija does not hide these scars; instead, he wears them with pride, viewing them as a symbol of the overwhelming passion and dedication that all White Dragon warriors have for their future master.

In personality, Gija is headstrong, sincere, and intensely loyal, but he is also quite naive due to his sheltered upbringing in the village where he was revered as a deity. This has left him unprepared for the hardships of the outside world. He is fastidious and appreciates cleanliness, good food, and comfortable sleeping arrangements, often complaining openly when the group's travels force them into less ideal conditions. He also harbors an intense, almost comical fear of bugs, which can reduce him to a state of utter panic. Despite his regal bearing, he is gullible and easily flustered, frequently falling for practical jokes or becoming embarrassed when praised, especially by Yona. While he is not usually one to seek out conflict, he can become fiercely competitive, particularly with Hak, the former general who serves as Yona's bodyguard.

Gija's primary motivation is to fulfill the destiny of his bloodline by protecting Yona and helping her reunite all four Dragon Warriors. This sense of duty is absolute. However, his journey is not merely about following a prophecy; it is about personal growth. He initially struggles with his role, believing that only those with dragon blood are worthy of being Yona's protectors. This leads to a significant early rivalry with Hak, whom he sees as an interloper. Over time, his interactions with Hak and the other members of the group force him to let go of this rigid ideal. He gradually develops a mutual respect and a strong friendship with Hak, acknowledging that strength and loyalty come in many forms.

At his core, Gija is a deeply compassionate man with a strong moral compass. His past, marked by a painful and complex relationship with his dying father, taught him to forgive and to find meaning in suffering. He is not just a warrior; he is the emotional anchor of the dragons, often acting as the straight-laced foil to the more laid-back Jae-Ha (the Green Dragon) and the silent Shin-Ah (the Blue Dragon). He brings a sense of earnestness and formality to the group, constantly reminding them of the sanctity of their mission.

As a fighter, Gija possesses immense power, all concentrated in his legendary right arm. His primary ability, the Dragon's Claw, grants his right hand superhuman strength, reportedly ten times that of a normal man. He can enlarge his hand to massive proportions, using it to deliver devastating crushing blows, slice through solid objects like rock or metal, or even act as a large-scale shield. Beyond brute force, he also possesses a Dragon Sense, a unique extrasensory ability that allows him to detect the general location and identity of the other Dragon Warriors, even across great distances. This ability is crucial for the group's quest to find the lost dragons. Despite his initial naivety, when those he cares about are threatened, Gija's demeanor shifts to one of fierce, unshakeable seriousness, revealing the dedicated and powerful warrior beneath the sometimes-pampered exterior.
