Description
Shingo Umoregi, called Akuma-kun, is a child prodigy destined as a once-in-10,000-years messianic mediator between humans and demons. His childhood obsession with occult studies—black magic, witchcraft, and supernatural phenomena—earned him his ominous nickname and drew the mentorship of Dr. Faust. Under Faust’s guidance, he mastered demonic summoning and received Solomon’s Flute, a mystical instrument for controlling entities, and an enchanted cloak for defense.

As the protagonist of the 1989 anime and *Saishinban Akuma-kun* manga, Shingo pursues a utopian "Millennium Kingdom," invoking the Twelve Apostles through a ritualized magic circle and the incantation *"Eloim, Essaim, frugativi et appelavi,"* sourced from ancient grimoires. His arsenal combines Demon World Tarot Cards for divination and combat with Solomon’s Flute, which coerces obedience from demons and incapacitates adversaries.

In later adaptations like the 2023 anime, Shingo adopts Ichiro Umoregi, a child rescued from a pivotal battle, transitioning into a guarded paternal role. Though outwardly composed and encouraging, his bond with Ichiro fractures under the weight of unresolved resentment and emotional detachment. Their contrasting approaches—Shingo’s proactive diplomacy versus Ichiro’s reluctant heroism—gradually soften into mutual respect and shared purpose.

Shingo’s ordinary familial ties further ground his mythic identity: his father, a struggling manga artist, anchors him to mundane struggles. His legacy extends through mentorship and kinship, notably influencing Mephisto III, the half-demon offspring of his former ally Mephisto II. Across timelines, Shingo remains steadfast in harmonizing the human and demonic realms, evolving from a solitary savior to a collaborative leader. His journey underscores the duality of power—weighing legacy against parenthood, ethical command against the burdens of supernatural authority.
