Description
Hajime Kiryuu is a supporting character in the narrative, introduced as a former president of the literature club at the high school the main characters attend. He is the older half-brother of Tomoyo Kanzaki, sharing a father but having a different mother.

Physically, Hajime is a tall young man with short, spiky white hair. He deliberately cultivates a striking and enigmatic appearance, often wearing a long black mantle, dark clothing, small circular black sunglasses, and an ear piercing. His most notable feature is his heterochromatic eyes, though this effect is achieved through the use of colored contact lenses, typically a red one for his right eye, as his natural eye color is purple. He sometimes suffers eye strain or injury from sleeping while wearing these lenses.

Hajime's personality is a complex blend of genuine acuity and performative fantasy. Like the protagonist Jurai Andou, he is deeply immersed in chunibyo, a condition characterized by grandiose delusions of possessing secret powers, hidden lineages, and a dark, dramatic past. He has given himself the elaborate alias Kiryuu Heldkaiser Luci-First, prefers to be called by this name rather than his real one, and possesses a notebook called the Reverse Crusade, which contains his own "black history" of fantastical writings. However, a key distinction is that Hajime's delusions are grounded in reality; he truly possesses supernatural abilities and is a veteran of the secret Fairy Wars. His particular brand of chunibyo is also somewhat different in nature from Andou's—Andou fantasizes about protecting others, while Hajime admits to having once dreamed of how he could annihilate everyone in a room. Despite his lone-wolf tendencies, he enjoys the company of other ability users and was impressed by Andou's "Bloody Bible," seeing him as a kindred spirit and the first person to truly understand him. He is known to laugh in a distinctive manner, described as "kakat".

Beneath the theatrical exterior lies a highly intelligent, perceptive, and somewhat aimless individual. He was an exceptional student and athlete in his youth, reaching the national level in track and field, but he abandoned these pursuits because he disliked the superficial attention and nicknames he received, such as the "Stylish Prince". His motivations are largely driven by a sense of boredom and a search for meaning, which he finds in the Fairy Wars. At the start of the story, he has dropped out of university and left his family home, leading to a carefree existence as a freeloader or NEET, living on a monthly allowance from his father and spending his days sleeping and reading comics at the apartment of his close friend, Hitomi Saitou.

Hajime's role in the story is that of a powerful and enigmatic supporting player. He is the leader of Fallen Black, a group of ability users he assembled to participate in the Fairy Wars, where he is designated as the 0th member. His actions often drive the supernatural side of the plot. It is revealed that he won the Fourth Fairy War, and his wish was to continue the conflict, which directly leads to the events of the Fifth Fairy War in which the main characters are embroiled. He is also responsible for adding the "Last Eight" rule, which determines the victors. He tasks the fairies with awakening the powers of the new literature club (the protagonists) but orders that they be left out of the war for the time being, referring to the club as "Virgin Child".

His key relationships are central to his character. His bond with his half-sister, Tomoyo, is very strong. She deeply admired him in her youth, and his chunibyo phase heavily influenced her own, which was even more severe than his in middle school. He still cares for her wellbeing and maintains contact with his family despite his estrangement. The most significant relationship in his daily life is with Hitomi Saitou, his oldest friend and former high school classmate. Hitomi is the person who understands his true situation, having known him since before he gained powers. She is the one who records his alias and powers for him, and she is often exasperated by his freeloading and laziness, yet she remains fiercely loyal, allowing him to live with her. Their first meeting was combative, with Hitomi initially angered by his references to her blind eye as an "evil eye," but they eventually formed a deep and lasting partnership.

Hajime undergoes subtle development that reveals the man behind the persona. While he appears as a confident, powerful figure, moments of vulnerability and his comically pathetic home life show a more nuanced reality. He is so dedicated to his chunibyo persona that he suffers real-world consequences like eye infections. His past as a gifted student who rejected success due to a distaste for the attention it brought suggests a deep-seated nonconformity and a preference for a self-defined identity over societal expectations. By the end of the story, after the resolution of the final Fairy War, he returns to school and begins a romantic relationship with Hitomi, suggesting a shift towards a more grounded and conventional future.

In terms of abilities, Hajime is an exceptionally powerful and creative superpower user. His primary power is called Lucifer's Strike, which grants him the ability to manipulate gravity. He has mastered this ability to a high degree, allowing him to perform a wide range of feats. He can make himself float or fly by defying gravity, walk on walls and ceilings by changing its direction, and reduce his own weight to near zero to fall safely. He can enhance his physical strikes or create a "strongest spear" by concentrating gravity into a single point (Mitsubachi) or a sharp, slashing edge (Zakuro). His most devastating technique is Pinpoint Abyss, where he creates a localized black hole that can devour anything, including matter and light. Through his mastery of physics and years of mental simulation of various abilities, he can comprehend and counter an opponent's power very quickly. His understanding of the relationship between gravity and time also allows him to manipulate time (Lucifer's Execution). After becoming the administrator of the Fairy War, he gained reality-warping abilities that allow him to nullify, modify, or bestow powers upon others, though he dislikes using this power as he considers it unfair. He also practices a martial arts technique called Shukuchi, which allows for rapid, unnoticed movement.
