Description
Kazuhiko is a human adventurer in the world of Elder Tale who operates as an Assassin with the Knight subclass. He is a former member of the legendary Debauchery Tea Party, a renowned group of high-level players that included influential figures such as Kanami and Shiroe. After the disbandment of the Tea Party following Kanami's departure, Kazuhiko chose to remain by the side of a distraught Indicus to watch over her.
Kazuhiko is a man of about thirty years old with long black hair, a lean and well-trained physique, and sharp, stern eyes. He is characterized by a strong sense of responsibility and justice, which influenced his decision to select Knight as his subclass. While he is known for his caring nature and is well-liked by many, he is also somewhat unfortunate, often drawing the short straw in situations. A perceptive observer like Nyanta notes that the Catastrophe, the event that trapped players in the game world, had a profound effect on Kazuhiko, leaving his eyes filled with sorrow, rage, and regret.
Kazuhiko's primary motivation is to protect the People of the Land, the non-player characters of Theldesia, from abuse and violence. This drive led him to travel to the southern city of Minami after hearing about troubling developments there. Although he had no original intention of joining the ruling guild Plant Hwyaden, he was persuaded to do so by Indicus and also joined to prevent future misfortunes he sensed would befall Minami. Once inside the organization, he became its seventh seat on the executive committee known as the Ten Seat Conference.
Within Plant Hwyaden, Kazuhiko leads the Wolves of Mibu, a security force that, while nominally a subdivision of the guild, operates almost entirely as his own autonomous private army. He uses this unit to maintain order and to crack down on arrogant adventurers who commit acts of violence against the People of the Land, trying to protect the citizens of the city where he often feels powerless to stop the broader, more nefarious plans of figures like Indicus.
Kazuhiko is connected to other key characters through past and present alliances. He maintains a complex relationship with KR and is shown to be in contact with him, learning from him about the adventures of their former comrade Kanami. He also has a significant connection to the guild Log Horizon; he was the person who recommended the high-level healing priest Tetora to Shiroe, facilitating her introduction to the group. During a confrontation with Nyanta, another former member of the Debauchery Tea Party, Kazuhiko intervened to stop the battle, demonstrating his connection to his past and his unwillingness to force a friend into a terrible situation.
Throughout the story, Kazuhiko's position forces him into difficult and morally complex situations. Despite his desire for justice, he is often caught between his role within Plant Hwyaden and his own principles. A notable and drastic development in his character occurs when he kills the adventurer Quon, viewing the individual's knowledge of Elder Tale as a threat to the world of Theldesia. This act is facilitated by his primary weapon, a katana named Rokudou Rin'ne. Due to its flavor text, adventurers slain by this blade do not revive at the cathedral, and Kazuhiko believes they will instead be reincarnated and return to the real world without any memories of their time in Theldesia.
Kazuhiko is a remarkably powerful combatant. By the events of the eighth volume of the source material, he has reached level 97, and his attack power is described as surpassing the normal limits of an adventurer. Although he uses a build that resembles a Sword Dancer, he has combined it with the Fencer Style skill to create his own unique fighting style that focuses on using a single blade.
