Masayuki Katō was a Japanese voice actor, actor, and scriptwriter. He was born on January 29, 1932, in Kitakyushu, Japan, and passed away on March 18, 1993. His career was marked by a significant tenure in the anime industry from the mid-20th century until his death.

Katō is best known for his long-running role as Nobisuke Nobi, the father of the protagonist Nobita, in the beloved anime series Doraemon. He provided the voice for this character from 1979 until 1992, becoming a familiar presence to audiences over many years and films. His work on the series extended to many of the Doraemon feature films released during that period, where in addition to Nobisuke, he also voiced various other characters such as an announcer in Nobita's Dinosaur, a member of the Free Alliance in Nobita's Space Hero, and a judge in Nobita and the Kingdom of Clouds. His last role in the franchise was in the 1992 film Nobita and the Kingdom of Clouds.

Beyond his iconic role in Doraemon, Katō contributed to a wide range of other animated works. He took part in the science fiction film Akira. He also voiced characters in series aimed at international audiences, such as the role of Sven the Terrible in the 1970s anime adaptation of Vicke the Viking. In addition to his voice work, Katō was also active as a scriptwriter, contributing to projects including the theatrical version of Anne of Green Gables and the series Cooking Papa.
