TV-Series
Description
Eldora is a pivotal character and an LRIG, a type of avatar card, in the Selector Spread WIXOSS anime. She is the partner of a young and energetic girl named Chiyori. In terms of appearance, Eldora is designed with a distinct and memorable look. She has bright orange hair styled into two buns on either side of her head and deep purple eyes. Her attire is characterized by a pink dress with a cut-out at the midsection, complemented by a large ribbon tied at her neck. She is rarely seen without her signature accessory, a hat decorated with a skull motif, and she wears pink winter gloves along with striped socks.

Eldora’s personality is a complex blend of opposing traits that create a dynamic and engaging presence. On the surface, she speaks in a humble and polite manner, using formal language when addressing others. However, with her own selector, Chiyori, her behavior is markedly different. She often acts as the straight man to Chiyori’s relentless energy and foolishness, delivering sharp, deadpan retorts to her partner's antics. This interaction makes them function like a comedic duo, with Eldora's cynical wit balancing Chiyori's chaotic enthusiasm. Despite her often exasperated tone, she carries a deep and genuine concern for Chiyori, who she views as honest but dangerously naive.

The background of Eldora is intrinsically linked to the tragic mechanics of the WIXOSS world. Like many LRIGs, she was once a human Selector who had her own wish. After losing three battles, her wish was reversed, and she was transformed into an LRIG card, trapped and waiting to be chosen by a new Selector. While she often claims to have a jumbled memory and cannot recall her past, this is a facade. In truth, she remembers her life as a human clearly and has come to the understanding that her original wish was something she could have achieved on her own, without the dangerous game of Selector battles.

Her primary motivation throughout the story is not the typical LRIG goal of winning battles to become human again, but rather the protection of her Selector, Chiyori. Eldora is fully aware of the brutal reality of the game: winning can lead to a horrific fate, and losing three times reverses a Selector's wish, often ruining their life. Because Chiyori’s wish is to become an LRIG herself and enter the WIXOSS world, Eldora realizes that a victory for them would be a curse, swapping their places and trapping Chiyori as a card. Consequently, Eldora orchestrates their third loss on purpose. She goads an opponent into fighting with full force, intending to lose so that Chiyori will be forcibly removed from the Selector system, her wish reversed, and her life as an ordinary girl preserved. This act of self-sacrifice is the core of her role in the story, putting Chiyori's well-being far above her own desire for freedom.

The most significant and defining relationship in Eldora’s existence is with Chiyori. Their bond is deep, having formed when Chiyori unboxed her from a deck. While Eldora frequently criticizes Chiyori's ridiculous attack names and impulsive behavior, she also admits that these very flaws make Chiyori who she is, and she would not want her to change. In the pivotal battle where she intends to lose, Eldora breaks her usual secrecy to confess her true feelings, tearfully admitting that she truly liked Chiyori and asking her opponents to become Chiyori’s friends after she loses her memories of the game. This relationship grows from a simple partnership to a profound friendship where Eldora acts as a secret guardian.

Throughout her limited screen time, Eldora undergoes a significant but subtle development. She initially appears as a secretive LRIG who hides the rules of the game from her partner, evading questions about her past and the consequences of battles. However, as Chiyori approaches her third loss, Eldora moves from passive secrecy to active, decisive action. She rejects the selfish path of winning to regain her humanity and instead chooses to sacrifice herself to save Chiyori. After Chiyori is defeated and her wish is reversed, Eldora physically emerges from her card in the real world for a brief moment before vanishing, implying her existence as an LRIG has ended. In the sequel series, it is shown that she was ultimately freed from her fate and now lives a normal human life under the name Kogane, indicating her journey ended in a hard-won peace.

As an LRIG of the Blue attribute, Eldora’s notable abilities in battle are tied to specific strategies. Her deck is known for techniques to sustain her Life Cloth and use energy for powerful finishing moves. In her level four form, she can use a skill that allows her to attack with the potential to crush two of the opponent’s Life Cloth in a single turn. However, her character is defined less by raw power and more by her tactical sacrifice, where her ultimate "ability" is her will to lose the final battle for the sake of her friend.
