TV-Series
Description
Hamura is a young detective working for the Criminal Investigation Division's First Section in Tokyo. He is portrayed as an energetic and passionate investigator who is fully dedicated to solving the case of the mysterious terrorists known as Sphinx. As a younger member of the police force, Hamura is often characterized by his hot-headed and impatient nature, which frequently puts him at odds with the more experienced and methodical approach of his colleague, Kenjirou Shibazaki.

His primary motivation stems from a desire to prove the competence of the police and catch the criminals. He is deeply frustrated by the investigation's lack of progress and is eager to take immediate, decisive action. This eagerness is fueled in part by his dismissive attitude toward the antagonists; he is reluctant to give too much credit to the teenage terrorists, believing that adults should be able to handle the situation. This perspective causes him to be skeptical of Shibazaki's willingness to engage with the terrorists' riddles, which Hamura misinterprets as the veteran detective simply enjoying a game.

In his role within the story, Hamura serves as a foil to Shibazaki. While Shibazaki is calm, experienced, and willing to think like the criminals to understand them, Hamura relies more on technology and standard police procedures, and he is quick to act on what he believes to be solid leads. Initially, he also doubts Shibazaki due to the older man having been relegated to a desk job for a long time and seeming more interested in solving puzzles than making arrests. However, as the series progresses, Hamura's attitude begins to change. He becomes less stubborn and gradually develops a respect for Shibazaki's unique insights and methods.

Hamura's key relationships are primarily within the police force, especially his partnership with Shibazaki. He starts as a reluctant and somewhat resentful colleague but evolves into a trusted partner willing to follow Shibazaki into dangerous territory. When Shibazaki is sidelined, Hamura continues to work with him, demonstrating a growing loyalty and shared commitment to uncovering the truth. In a critical moment, Shibazaki gives Hamura a chance to walk away from the dangerous government conspiracy they are uncovering, but Hamura, despite showing visible fear, steels himself and chooses to continue the pursuit of justice.

His development is marked by this shift from a dismissive and impulsive detective to a more courageous and principled one. He learns to value Shibazaki's wisdom and becomes an active, helpful participant in solving the mystery. Notably, he provides a crucial hint to Shibazaki regarding someone taking pictures with a balloon, which proves to be important information for the case. In terms of notable abilities, Hamura is portrayed as a competent investigator who is comfortable with modern technology, often using recording devices and analyzing digital evidence. His primary strength, however, lies in his persistence and his eventual willingness to set aside his pride for the sake of the investigation.
