TV-Series
Description
Bazett Fraga McRemitz is an independent enforcer known as a Sealing Designation Enforcer, sent by the Mage's Association to retrieve the Class Cards. Originally assigned to this mission, she successfully defeated the copies of Archer and Lancer to obtain their cards. However, the magus Zelretch intervened, reassigning the task to Rin Tohsaka and Luviagelita Edelfelt and granting them the cards already collected. Due to internal power struggles within the Association, Bazett later sets out to reclaim all seven Class Cards for herself.
Bazett has a deeply serious and professional demeanor, caring little for anything beyond the completion of her assigned tasks. Her work ethic is unshakeable, leading her to take on exhausting temporary jobs and accept severe financial hardship without complaint. She is shown to be completely unfazed by poverty, sleeping in a cardboard box on a park bench and casually remarking that Japan's mild climate and abundant resources make it easy to avoid starvation or freezing to death. While she is willing to show mercy and prefers not to involve innocent parties, she will resort to lethal force without hesitation against anyone who obstructs her mission, regardless of whether they are adults or children. She disapproves of involving children who are not connected to a magus conflict, viewing it as behavior unworthy of respect. Despite her ruthless efficiency, she operates with a personal code, avoiding unnecessary violence and sparing non-combatants when possible.
Bazett arrives in Fuyuki City after the immediate crisis involving the character Kuro has been resolved. Her goal is straightforward: to take the Class Cards from Rin and Luvia by force. She first attacks Luvia in her mansion, easily defeating both Luvia and her servant Auguste. Even when Rin joins the battle, Bazett overwhelms both magi without being touched, though Rin manages to place a magical seal on her using Illya's blood. After claiming the four Class Cards stored in the mansion, she encounters Illya and Kuro. She recognizes the Kaleidostick Magical Ruby and quickly defeats both girls, displaying combat prowess that allows her to match Heroic Spirits with her bare hands. She collects the Lancer Card from Illya but is eventually forced into a stalemate when Rin reveals the existence of an unexpected eighth Class Card. This development is beyond Bazett's personal authority to judge, so she agrees to a truce, returns three of the cards in exchange for information, and departs. Later, she cooperates with the group to confront the eighth card, which manifests as the powerful Servant Gilgamesh. During this battle, she is severely wounded but uses her runic abilities to survive and land a decisive blow, though the group is ultimately forced to retreat.
Bazett's key relationships are largely professional and transactional. She has no personal grudge against Rin, Luvia, or the young magical girls, viewing them simply as obstacles to her mission. She forms a temporary alliance with Rin when the situation with the eighth card exceeds her mandate, and she trades information for the return of several Class Cards. Her interactions with Illya and Miyu are defined by her pragmatic refusal to yield to their emotional pleas, though she respects their determination to fight. Her financial struggles lead to comedic encounters, such as when she takes a job selling ice pops and tries to intimidate the group into overpaying.
Bazett is an extraordinarily powerful combatant even by the standards of the Mage's Association. Her physical strength is immense, allowing her to casually toss furniture, uproot large sections of the ground with her strikes, and destroy projected Noble Phantasms with her bare hands. She wears gloves inscribed with runes that grant her a Rune of Armoring, making them tougher than tungsten steel and enhancing her striking power to smash through defensive magecraft. Her body is incredibly resilient, capable of withstanding severe punishment. Her most notable defensive ability is a Rune of Resurrection, a Noble Phantasm-class rune that instantly restores her body when her heart stops, even healing fatal wounds. Her ultimate offensive ability is Fragarach, also known as the Answerer. This is a trump card that activates in response to an opponent using their strongest attack. Fragarach reverses causality, rewriting time so that it strikes the opponent's heart before their attack can be deployed. In the battle against Miyu, she uses Fragarach to counter the Pegasus summoned by the Rider Card, stabbing it through the heart and nullifying the attack entirely.
While Bazett undergoes limited personal development within the events of 2wei, she transitions from a straightforward antagonist to a reluctant ally when faced with a threat greater than the original mission parameters. Her pragmatic nature allows her to set aside her objective to deal with the unprecedented eighth Class Card, demonstrating that she is not blinded by duty but can adapt when the situation requires a different approach. Her stoic and solitary nature remains a defining trait throughout, with subtle hints of loneliness underscoring her professional exterior.
