Hitomi Nabatame
Description
Hitomi Nabatame is a Japanese voice actress, singer, and former stage actress born on August 4, 1976, in Niigata Prefecture and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent agency Ken Production. Before entering the voice acting industry, she graduated from Tokyo Conservatoire Shobi and spent several years as a stage actress with the Tokyo Denki Battery theater company starting in 1998.
Nabatame made her debut as a voice actress in 2003, a year that proved pivotal for her career. While still a student at the voice acting school School Duo, she landed her first major roles as Arcueid Brunestud in the anime adaptation of Tsukihime and as Yūna Miyama in Maburaho. Her casting in these leading roles brought her immediate recognition within the industry.
In addition to voice acting, Nabatame has pursued a career as a singer. In 2004, she formed a musical unit with fellow voice actress Shizuka Itō called "Hitomi Nabatame to Shizuka Itō," releasing the single Charinco de Yukō. She later made her solo singing debut in 2006 with the mini-album Ohisama to Osanpo. She has also been active in various voice actor units, including N± and later N'S.
Nabatame's career is marked by a wide range of roles across many popular anime series. In the 2000s, she established herself with prominent performances such as Nobue Itō in Strawberry Marshmallow, Eriko Takahashi in Girl's High, Mikoto Suō in School Rumble, Shizuma Hanazono in Strawberry Panic!, and Margery Daw in the Shakugan no Shana franchise. She also voiced Ryōko Yakushiji in Ryoko's Case File and provided the Japanese voice for Kei Kishimoto in Gantz.
Her versatility continued to be showcased in the following decade with roles like Saori Makishima in Oreimo, Cindy Campbell in Squid Girl, Judit Snorrevík in Astarotte's Toy, and the Dorm Supervisor in A Certain Scientific Railgun. In 2013, she took on the leading role of Mana Aida / Cure Heart in DokiDoki! PreCure, a milestone as the protagonist of a long-running and beloved magical girl series. That same year, she delivered a critically acclaimed performance as Kazusa Touma in the drama-heavy romance series White Album 2, a role she has stated was emotionally demanding to record. Her filmography also includes recurring roles such as Bazett Fraga McRemitz in the Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya series, Nanao Ise in Bleach, and Unchō Kan'u in the Ikki Tousen franchise.
In more recent years, Nabatame has continued to work prolifically. Her credits include Akane Kosaka in Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend Flat, Shizuru Hoshino in Princess Connect! Re:Dive, Chomusuke in the Isekai Quartet series, Nia Honjō in Date A Live IV, and Agent in Girls' Frontline. She also voiced Serena Rinnen in Tower of God, Sakiko Tsuzuragawa in Tokyo 24th Ward, and Mireille Grangeon in As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill. Her ability to portray characters ranging from the stoic and cool to the comedic and warm-hearted has made her a consistent and respected presence in the anime industry for over two decades. Nabatame announced her marriage on her blog in 2014.
