Description
"Natsu no Arashi!" is a supernatural comedy-drama anime series set in a small Japanese town during the summer. The story centers around a 13-year-old boy named Hajime Yasaka, who stumbles upon a mysterious café called Ark while seeking shelter from the rain. There, he meets a beautiful and enigmatic girl named Arashi, who works as a waitress. Hajime soon discovers that Arashi is not an ordinary girl but a ghost from the World War II era, trapped in the present day due to unresolved emotions tied to her past.
Arashi possesses the ability to travel back in time when she holds hands with someone, a power that becomes central to the narrative. Hajime becomes her partner in these time-traveling adventures, and together they explore Arashi's past, uncovering her connections to the war and the people she left behind. The series intertwines moments of lighthearted comedy with poignant reflections on loss, memory, and the passage of time.
The café Ark serves as a gathering place for other characters, each with their own quirks and backstories. Among them is Sayoko, Arashi's best friend and fellow ghost, who also hails from the same era. Sayoko’s playful and mischievous personality contrasts with Arashi’s more reserved demeanor, adding depth to their dynamic. Other characters include Jun, a café regular with a sharp tongue, and Kaja, a young girl who becomes involved in the group’s adventures.
As the series progresses, the time-traveling escapades reveal more about Arashi’s life during the war, her relationships, and the circumstances of her death. These journeys into the past are not only about uncovering historical truths but also about helping Arashi come to terms with her unresolved feelings. The narrative balances episodic adventures with an overarching plot, gradually building toward a resolution that ties together the themes of love, sacrifice, and the enduring impact of the past on the present.
The interplay between the characters, their interactions with the supernatural elements, and the exploration of historical events create a unique blend of humor and emotional depth. "Natsu no Arashi!" uses its time-traveling premise to explore both personal and collective histories, offering a story that is as much about human connections as it is about the mysteries of the past.

1Natsu no Arashi!
Yasaka arrives in a rural town for summer vacation and enters a small café called Ucchan's. The owner,Ucchan, introduces him to Arashi, a girl who claims she died sixty years ago in an air raid. Arashi proves she is a ghost by letting Yasaka throw a coin through her body. She warns Yasaka not to touch her skin because physical contact triggers involuntary time travel. Yasaka dismisses her warnings as strange jokes. Later, Arashi stumbles while carrying a tray, and Yasaka grabs her hand to steady her. The touch instantly transports both of them to August 1945. They stand on a dirt road as a B-29 bomber flies overhead and drops incendiary bombs. Arashi pulls Yasaka into a drainage ditch to avoid the explosions. From the ditch, Yasaka sees a young girl who looks like Arashi running toward a burning house. Arashi shouts for the girl to stop, but the vision ends. They return to the present café, both shaken and covered in soot from the past. Yasaka asks whether the girl was Arashi's living self. Arashi confirms it and explains she cannot interact with her past body without breaking the time slip. She reveals her true goal: to find a way to alter the events that killed her and her family. Yasaka agrees to help her search for any method that might change the past. The episode closes with Arashi warning Yasaka that each time slip carries the risk of leaving them stranded in 1945 forever.

Kanako Yamazaki confronts Arashi and Hajime as their work shift ends. Kanako thrusts her hand into Arashi's chest and begins draining her life force. Hajime spots a crossbow aimed directly at him and cannot rush to Arashi's aid. He throws caution aside and attacks Kanako, prompting her to fire the crossbow. The arrow narrowly misses Hajime. The man with sunglasses arrives and intervenes in the confrontation. Arashi loses consciousness as her power continues to deplete. Hajime and the detective track Kanako to her location to recover Arashi's drained energy. Hajime devises a plan to kidnap Yayoi, Kanako's companion, and hold her hostage. During their pursuit, Yayoi reveals that she and Kanako attended the same school as Arashi during World War II. The episode presents extended flashbacks to that wartime period, showing the school setting and the relationships among the three girls. These past events explain Kanako and Yayoi's connection to Arashi and their current motives. Arashi remains unconscious as the episode ends, with her survival depending on Hajime's next move.
11The World Exists for Us Two - Yayoi
Hajime and Yayoi accidentally connect and travel back to Japan during World War II. The shock of the wartime environment renders Yayoi unconscious. A radio broadcast announces an imminent large-scale air raid. Hajime wheels Yayoi into town toward the factory where Kanako and the others once worked. A mother and child recognize Yayoi and assume she suffered injuries in a previous raid. Yayoi regains consciousness and recognizes them. Knowing they will die in the coming air raid,Yayoi frantically tries to warn them, but they refuse to believe her. Hajime wheels Yayoi to a nearby hill to rest. Yayoi addresses Hajime as Niisan and explains her friendship with Kanako, noting how she and the other ghosts have lived through sixty summers and recently began fading from existence. Kanako from the year 1945 arrives and speaks harshly to Yayoi. A fighter plane appears and strafes the area. Yayoi rises from her wheelchair to push Kanako out of the line of fire. A bullet grazes Kanako instead of striking her directly. Yayoi stands unsteadily but discovers she can walk again. Hajime and Yayoi walk into town to find Arashi. Yayoi teases Hajime about his feelings for Arashi, which he denies. They encounter Arashi and Kaja from 1945 on the road. Arashi tells Yayoi they are counting on her to play piano at a performance later that day. Yayoi encourages Hajime to attend but refuses to go herself, fearing she might encounter her 1945 counterpart. Yayoi returns to the hill while Hajime goes to the school. The 1945 Yayoi plays piano with a depressed expression as Arashi and Kaja sing. Hajime spots Kanako and yells to get her attention. The 1945 Yayoi sees Kanako and her face brightens with happiness. Kanako apologizes for her earlier hurtful words and thanks Yayoi for saving her. Their friendship forms at that moment. Hajime returns to the present Yayoi and explains how their trip made the friendship possible. Kanako from the present arrives with Hideo. Kanako stares in astonishment at Yayoi walking. Yayoi explains that without their ghostly condition and time-travel ability, her friendship with Kanako would never have occurred. Kanako understands. The two clasp hands and extend their free hands toward Hajime and Hideo to return to the present day. Yayoi can now walk, but the question of how to prevent all four ghosts from fading away remains unanswered.
