Kaori Nazuka

Kaori Nazuka is a Japanese actress and voice actress born on April 24, 1985, in Tokyo, Japan. Her career in the performing arts began in childhood, as she started appearing on stage as a child actor during her elementary school years. A significant turning point came in 1998 when anime director Taiichiro Ohara saw her perform in a musical and subsequently cast her in a small role for the anime Ojarumaru, which marked her voice acting debut at the age of 13. She later studied at the Toho Gakuen College of Drama and Music, graduating in March 2006. For much of her early career, her mother served as her manager, and she is now a freelance voice actress, not affiliated with any specific agency.
Nazuka has built an extensive and varied career, lending her voice to a wide array of characters across numerous popular anime series. One of her most iconic and long-running roles is Nunnally vi Britannia in the acclaimed Code Geass franchise, a part she has played since 2006, including the 2019 film Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection. She also gained early recognition for her starring role as the titular character Eureka in the 2005 series Eureka Seven, a role she later reprised for the sequel Eureka Seven AO. Her filmography from this period also includes Subaru in.hack//SIGN (2002), Lala-Ru in Now and Then, Here and There (1999), and the title character Cosette in the 2007 adaptation of Les Misérables: Shōjo Cosette.
Over the years, she has become known for several other defining roles that demonstrate her range. She is the voice of Lynette Bishop in the long-running Strike Witches franchise, a character she has portrayed across multiple series and OVAs from 2007 to 2020. In the comedy and romance genres, she is well-known as Yui Kotegawa in the To Love-Ru series and its sequels, and as Tsukasa Ayatsuji in Amagami SS. She has also taken on a significant number of roles in popular action and fantasy series, such as Tsubaki Nakatsukasa in Soul Eater (2008), Maria Ross in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009), Chelsea in Akame ga Kill! (2014), and Miyu Edelfelt in the Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya series, a role she has played since 2013. In the magical girl genre, she also voiced a young version of the character Ribbon in a 2016 episode of Maho Girls PreCure!.
Nazuka's career has continued to flourish in the 2010s and 2020s with roles in some of the most prominent anime of the era. She voices Kiyoko Shimizu, the stoic and admired manager of the volleyball team, in the immensely popular Haikyu!! series, a role she began in 2014. She is also part of the vast cast of My Hero Academia, where she plays the invisible student Toru Hagakure. Her other notable roles from this period include Frau Koujiro in Robotics;Notes (2012), Kazuho Miyauchi in the Non Non Biyori series (2013-2021), and the Heroine in the 2013 anime adaptation of the visual novel Amnesia. More recently, she has been involved in major film projects, such as voicing Uta in the 2022 blockbuster One Piece Film Red. Her voice continues to be in demand, with roles in upcoming projects like the 2025 animated film Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-.
