Description
Izumi Tachibana is the central character and protagonist of the story, serving as the general director of the MANKAI Company, a position she inherits following the disappearance of her father, Yukio Tachibana, the troupe's founder. She is a young woman, estimated to be around 24 years old during the main events, with long brown hair that falls to her chest and bright, pinkish-hazel eyes. Izumi favors a casual yet fashionable style, often seen wearing a white and blue striped shirt paired with rolled-up dark blue jeans, black sneakers, and carrying a small red purse.

Her past is deeply intertwined with the theater. As a child, she frequently visited the MANKAI Theatre, where her father worked, and her experiences there sparked her own interest in acting. It was during this time that she met and introduced Sakyo Furuichi to the company, forming a childhood friendship with him. However, her dream of performing was cut short after she was told she possessed no talent for acting, leading her to abandon her ambitions and stop visiting the theater. Years later, eight years after her father vanished, Izumi received an invitation letter addressed to him from the company's manager. She returned to the theater, now in a state of disrepair and on the verge of closure, with the initial hope of finding clues about her father's whereabouts. Instead, she found herself stepping in to save it, accepting the role of director and taking on the immense challenge of reviving the MANKAI Company by forming new acting troupes, producing successful performances, and repaying its substantial debts within a strict timeframe.

In terms of personality, Izumi is widely regarded as a bright, kind, and caring individual. She possesses a sharp intellect and is quick-witted, particularly skilled at evaluating the unique strengths and weaknesses of the people around her. This perceptiveness makes her an effective leader and mediator, as she is often seen trying to find common ground and mediate conflicts among the many strong and clashing personalities she gathers for the company. Despite her outward warmth and maturity, she harbors significant insecurities and a surprisingly low sense of self-esteem, stemming from her past failure as an actress. She tends to put the interests of others before her own and prefers to keep her personal doubts to herself. A defining and more lighthearted aspect of her character is her extreme, almost obsessive love for curry. Her enthusiasm for the dish is such that she can launch into long, detailed monologues about the origins of various spices, and she claims to possess the ability to make 365 different types of curry, one for each day of the year.

Izumi's role in the story is that of the driving force and emotional anchor for the MANKAI Company. Her background as a former aspiring actress, despite her lack of on-stage success, provides her with a deep and practical knowledge of stagecraft, which she uses to offer precise and strategic advice to her actors during rehearsals. She also handles the company's management, recruitment, and finances, demonstrating strong organizational and leadership abilities. Her key relationships are central to the narrative. She shares a complex history with Sakyo Furuichi, who initially uses his yakuza connections to financially support the theater. She also has a unique dynamic with actor Masumi Usui, who openly and frequently declares his affection for her regardless of the situation. Fellow member Yuki Rurikawa teases her about her curry obsession, giving her the nickname "Curry Alien". She often takes on a nurturing, team-oriented role, caring for the members' well-being and helping with meals in the dormitory alongside Omi.

Throughout the story, Izumi undergoes significant personal development. She reconciles her painful past failure as an actress with her current success in directing and producing. By using her own negative experience to empathize with and coach her troupe members, she gradually overcomes her personal doubts and grows into a confident leader, fully embracing her role to lead the company toward a successful revival. Her notable abilities, beyond her stage knowledge, include her knack for persuasion, often recruiting reluctant but talented individuals, and her reliable cooking skills when following a recipe. As the only female resident of the company, she occupies the room her father once used, and she also assists neighboring troupes with backstage work in her spare time.
