Description
The President of the agency in Shōnen Hollywood - Holly Stage for 49 is the head of Hollywood Tokyo, the theater and talent organization where the idol group Shōnen Hollywood is based. Within the story he is usually referred to simply as the President, and his personal name is Tsuyoto Hiiragi. He is a middle-aged man with grey hair, and his position makes him the most senior figure connected to the group.
His past is closely tied to the history of Hollywood Tokyo. In his younger days he was an ordinary man named Kōji Sakuragi who had once dreamed of becoming an idol. Seeing a scouting advertisement for young male singers, he chose to pursue that dream by changing his name to Tsuyoto Hiiragi and lying about his age, claiming to be seventeen when he was actually thirty-two. Through this deception he gained entry to Hollywood Tokyo, trained there, and became a member of the original, now disbanded Shōnen Hollywood group. In the fifteen years that followed, he remained with the institution and eventually rose to become its president.
As president, Hiiragi oversees the daily operations of Hollywood Tokyo and guides the new generation of Shōnen Hollywood that the story follows. It is he who scouts Kakeru Kazami, the group's main protagonist, and brings him into the idol world. His background as a former idol gives him firsthand understanding of the training, discipline, and pressures the young members experience, and he approaches his role with professional authority and genuine concern for the group's future. He functions as a link between the theater's past and its present, carrying forward the legacy of the earlier Shōnen Hollywood into the new era.
His most significant relationship is with those he watches over. The group's manager, Kyouichi Teshigawara, works under him and assists with the members' practice, forming the day-to-day support system around the idols. Toward the new Shōnen Hollywood members, Hiiragi behaves as a steady, somewhat distant guardian figure, letting them develop through their own diligence rather than coddling them. His own past also connects him to the former president of Hollywood Tokyo, the man who originally recruited him and believed him to be seventeen, and who regarded him warmly with the nickname meaning God. This history gives Hiiragi a personal stake in the theater's continued success.
In terms of abilities, Hiiragi's strengths lie in management and talent development. He has the experience of having trained and performed as an idol, the business sense to run a theatrical venue, and the eye to recognize promising performers, as shown by his recruitment of Kakeru. He is not a performing member of the current generation, but his knowledge of music, stagecraft, and the entertainment industry makes him an important supporting presence throughout the story. His development is revealed largely through flashbacks, which show how a man who once hid his age to chase a dream became the respected head of the very institution where that dream began.
