Minami Azuma is the daughter of Hokusai Azuma, known as the Professor, and serves as one of the high-ranking members of the ESP Liberation Front. She grew up alongside Kyotaro Azuma as his childhood friend and later became his adoptive sister, sharing the same teleportation ability. Her ESP allows her to instantly transport herself to any location, granting her exceptional mobility in combat and making her a difficult target. In addition to this power, Minami is highly skilled in swordsmanship, often combining her teleportation with bladed weapons to execute swift, unpredictable attacks. Throughout the series, she acts as her father’s most trusted enforcer, participating in the organization’s terrorist activities across Tokyo. During the first part of the story, her actions are part of a larger distraction to lure out the enemy responsible for stealing part of the Ark and murdering her mother. In the second part, she is partnered with Kozuki Kuroi and entrusted with carrying and protecting the Ark, a mission that becomes central to her role. Minami is typically calm, composed, and stoic, rarely speaking or showing emotion. However, when working alongside her group, she can be cruel and ruthless in carrying out their objectives. Despite her cold demeanor, she harbors a deep loyalty to her father and goes to great lengths to protect him. There are subtle indications that she has romantic feelings for Kyotaro, leading to jealousy toward Rinka Urushiba as Kyotaro grows closer to her. Kyotaro himself believes Minami is being manipulated by the Professor and is not truly capable of committing crimes of her own will. Over the course of the narrative, her unwavering dedication to her father’s plan begins to hint at an internal struggle between obedience and personal conscience, adding complexity to her role as an antagonist.
