Description
Kajitsu Momose is a central character in the narrative, introduced as a quiet and reserved twelve-year-old girl who is deeply connected to nature. Initially, she presents as almost emotionless, completely loyal to her older brother, Yuuki Momose, and willing to follow his directives without question. Beneath this calm and gentle exterior, however, lies a fierce intensity that emerges most strongly when Yuuki is threatened, revealing a powerful protective instinct. Her interests are notably narrow, with her brother being her primary focus.
Kajitsu's background is unusual, as she and her brother are not ordinary humans but rather the reincarnations of beings from another world known as Otherworlders. In their past lives, Yuuki was the king of the white world, and Kajitsu was the princess of the green world, as well as his destined lover. This past-life connection as lovers, now reborn as siblings, forms the complex and intense foundation of their relationship in the present. As the princess of the green world, Kajitsu bears a special power known as the light of Mother Core. The awakening of this power was traumatic; she began to communicate with insects and flowers, an ability that led to her being treated like an animal and subjected to inhumane experimentation. This abuse caused her powers to spiral out of control, leading to the unintentional destruction of her own home in self-defense. She and Yuuki fled to the human world, where a single white rose that survived a storm became their symbol of purity and resilience, with Yuuki swearing to protect her.
In the card game Battle Spirits, Kajitsu is an exceptionally skilled player, wielding a green-themed deck that remains undefeated for a significant period. Her strategy focuses on windstorm effects, and she is known to possess and use powerful cards such as The Providence Hououga and The Fruit of Wise Tree, with her key card being The Emperor Bird Phoenix, also known as "The Providence Hououga". Her role in the story is deeply intertwined with her brother's mission to save her from the suffering caused by her connection to Mother Core. As the strain of bearing the Mother Core's light intensifies, her condition worsens, and attempts to heal her, such as gathering energy during the Grand Rolo Championship, only cause her more pain.
Through pivotal battles, particularly her encounters with the protagonist Dan Bashin, her character undergoes significant development. During a second clash with Dan, his questioning triggers a traumatic recall of her past, causing her powers to go out of control, which forces Yuuki to intervene. In a critical moment within the white world, Kajitsu makes the ultimate sacrifice, using her full power to save Yuuki from an attack by the Otherworld King, who was disguised as a doll. This act drains the Mother Core's symbol from her body, resulting in her death. Before vanishing, she and Yuuki promise to reunite in a future era. Her legacy continues after her death; her spirit appears as butterflies during Dan's final battle, and she is later reincarnated in the sequel series Brave as Flora Perfume, a green-haired demi-human who retains her gentle nature and forms a new bond with the reincarnation of her brother.
