Description
Inaho Kaiduka is a central figure in the narrative, introduced as a fifteen-year-old high school student residing in the city of Shinawara on Earth. Orphaned during the catastrophic event known as Heaven's Fall, he lives with his elder sister, Yuki Kaizuka, and is responsible for most household chores, including cooking. Despite his young age, he is depicted as a highly accomplished individual, consistently ranking at the top of his class academically and excelling in the military training that is standard in his educational curriculum.
Inaho's most defining characteristic is his profound and persistent calmness. He almost never loses his composure, even in life-threatening situations, and prefers to base his actions on logical and theoretical analysis rather than emotion. This stoic demeanor is often perceived by others as a lack of feeling, but those close to him, particularly his sister, understand that he does experience emotions, he simply struggles to express them openly. He possesses a remarkable ability to rapidly process information, using even minor observations to deduce the fundamental principles and weaknesses of his opponents. His motivations are rooted in a strong sense of duty and protection. While he begins as a civilian, the death of a close friend in front of him serves as a catalyst, driving him to take direct action in the conflict against the Martian invaders.
In the story, Inaho serves as the primary tactical asset for the Earth forces. Faced with the technologically superior Kataphrakts of the Martian Knights, his role is to bridge the gap in power with his intellect. He is a natural strategist who devises and executes unconventional plans to neutralize seemingly invincible enemies. He typically pilots an older, orange-colored training Kataphrakt, the KG-6 Sleipnir, which becomes a recognizable symbol on the battlefield. His effectiveness against the Martian Knights, from whom he spares no opponents, earns him the fearsome moniker of the Orange Devil.
His relationships are defined by quiet loyalty and mutual trust rather than overt displays of affection. He lives with his sister Yuki, a military officer whose laziness at home he patiently endures while also looking out for her safety. He fights alongside his classmates, most notably Inko Amifumi and Calm Craftman, who follow his directives in combat. A significant relationship forms with Princess Asseylum Vers Allusia of Mars, whom he encounters disguised on Earth. He becomes her dedicated protector, and the trust between them is absolute. In contrast, his relationship with the Martian youth Slaine Troyard is that of a rival and enemy, defined by their conflicting goals and pivotal confrontations.
Throughout the narrative, Inaho undergoes a significant physical transformation. In a critical confrontation, he suffers a severe injury to his head, losing his left eye. He survives this ordeal and returns to active duty with a cybernetic prosthetic eye, known as the Analytical Engine. This device enhances his already formidable analytical abilities, allowing him to process complex information at superhuman speeds and even help navigate the Aldnoah-powered ship, the Deucalion. This is made possible because he ingested the blood of Princess Asseylum, which granted him the activation factor for the Aldnoah drive, making him the only Earthling capable of operating such technology. However, this augmentation puts a great strain on his mind. After the war concludes, he has the eye removed and wears an eyepatch, returning to a more normal existence.
