Description
Alexandre Bewcock served as a fleet admiral in the Free Planets Alliance military during the Alliance-Imperial War. Born in 726 UC, he enlisted as a soldier and advanced through the ranks based on merit, bypassing formal academy training. This non-traditional path drew disdain from some academy-educated officers but earned him respect for his extensive combat experience on both sides of the conflict.

His early military career included participation in the Second Battle of Tiamat at age 19, serving as a gunner aboard the battleship *Shah Abbas* under Wallace Warwick's 5th Fleet. During the engagement, he maintained composure despite ammunition shortages, advising fellow crew members to focus on their duties rather than uncontrollable circumstances. He received a battlefield commission, yet his career progression remained slow due to his refusal to engage in political flattery. By 788 UC, he had attained the rank of commodore, commanding the Marovia Starzone while writing his memoirs.

Bewcock rose to vice admiral by 794 UC, taking command of the 5th Fleet. As the senior admiral during the Third Battle of Tiamat in 795 UC, he coordinated the Alliance fleets against Imperial forces. Recognizing Vice Admiral Willem Holland's overextension and insubordination would lead to disaster, he ordered a withdrawal. When Holland refused, Bewcock coordinated with Ulanhu's 10th Fleet to cover the 11th Fleet's retreat, preventing further Imperial advances.

During the Alliance invasion of Imperial territory, Bewcock heeded Yang Wen-li's warning about severed supply lines and initiated a withdrawal from the Bilrost starzone. His fleet sustained approximately 30% losses during Reuenthal's pursuit before disengaging. Later, when Reinhard von Lohengramm invaded through the Fezzan Corridor, Bewcock commanded the Alliance fleet at the Battle of Rantemario. Facing numerical inferiority, he utilized the star's gravity well defensively but suffered devastating casualties. Facing defeat, he attempted suicide to atone for fallen subordinates. Chung Wu-Cheng intervened by removing the clip from his weapon, persuading him that his survival was necessary to protect subordinates from potential war crimes trials after the Alliance's inevitable surrender.

Following the Alliance surrender in 799 UC, Bewcock retired but remained under Imperial surveillance as a person of interest. During the Imperial occupation and subsequent invasion, he was recalled from retirement to lead a defensive action at the Battle of Marr-Adetta Starzone. He inflicted approximately 25,000 casualties on Imperial forces before dying in combat. Prior to his death, he shared a symbolic toast to democracy with Reinhard. The Imperial Kaiser later ordered a full military salute and poured a libation in honor of the fallen admiral upon arriving on Heinessen.

Bewcock maintained consistent philosophical principles regarding democratic governance. He argued the Alliance should "die as a democracy rather than become a dictatorship to survive" and criticized the erosion of civic responsibility, stating: "The collapse of an autocracy is the sin of its rulers and leaders. But the collapse of a democracy is the sin of every citizen." During Yang Wen-li's inquiry in 798 UC, Bewcock assisted Frederica Greenhill in locating Yang while criticizing government interference in military operations and media manipulation.
