Description
Nephrite is the second of the Four Kings of Heaven, also known as the Shitennou, who serve Queen Beryl in the Dark Kingdom. In his past life during the Silver Millennium, he was one of Prince Endymion’s loyal knights, but he was corrupted and reborn in the modern era with no memory of his former allegiance. In the events of the series, he is tasked with locating the Legendary Silver Crystal and the Moon Princess to further Queen Beryl’s plans.
Nephrite has a hot-tempered and prideful personality. He is quick to anger and often becomes flustered when his schemes do not go as planned. He is highly competitive with the other Shitennou, especially Jadeite, and strives to prove himself the most worthy servant to Queen Beryl. Despite his failures, he possesses a strong sense of determination and rarely asks for help from others.
His primary motivation is to earn Queen Beryl’s favor and affection. He believes that completing his mission will secure his position and win her approval. Later in the story, after regaining his lost memories of his past life as Endymion’s guardian, his loyalty shifts, but he remains under Beryl’s brainwashing until the end.
In the story, Nephrite acts as one of the early antagonists in the Dark Kingdom arc. He uses a variety of methods to collect energy for Queen Metaria and to search for the Silver Crystal. His most notable scheme involves controlling people through a shadowy possession technique, which he uses to drain their life energy. He also develops a Black Crystal that can track the Silver Crystal by resonating with strong emotions, such as love.
