Akihiko Sanada is a third-year student at Gekkoukan High School and the undefeated captain of its boxing team. After his parents died when he was young, he and his younger sister Miki were placed in an orphanage, where he met his closest friend, Shinjiro Aragaki. A fire at the orphanage claimed Miki’s life, an event for which Akihiko blamed himself for not being strong enough, fueling an intense drive for personal strength and combat prowess. He is a founding member of the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), having been recruited by Mitsuru Kirijo during junior high. Akihiko presents a cool, practical, and determined exterior, acting as a stabilizing force and mentor to younger members, though he can be socially awkward, recklessly eager in battle, and surprisingly blunt. His deep bond with Shinjiro is central to his character, and Shinjiro’s death forces Akihiko to confront the limits of his philosophy, leading his Persona to evolve from Polydeuces to Caesar. He fights with his fists and lightning-based attacks, has a natural weakness to ice, and is known for his short silver hair, white bandage above his left eye, red sweater vest, and school jacket draped over his shoulders.
