Description
Frederica Greenhill met Yang Wen-li at age 14 during the Imperial invasion of El Facil in 788 UC (479 IC). Stranded during the evacuation with her mother, she observed Yang, a junior officer, assume command after his superiors fled. In a notable exchange, she offered him coffee after he choked on a sandwich, prompting his brusque preference for tea—a remark he apologized for eight years later. Yang's leadership secured the safe escape of Frederica, her mother, and millions of civilians before Imperial occupation.
Graduating salutatorian from the Free Planets Alliance Officer Academy in 794 UC (485 IC), Frederica possessed an eidetic memory enabling precise recall of events decades past. Admiral Alex Cazerne assigned her as Yang Wen-li's personal aide after he commanded the newly formed 13th Fleet post-Battle of Astarte. Initially a sub-lieutenant (or lieutenant junior grade), she served for three years, including during the National Salvation Military Council coup, which placed her in opposition to her father, Admiral Dwight Greenhill.
Her professional relationship with Yang evolved personally, culminating in his marriage proposal shortly before the Battle of Vermillion, which she accepted. Following the Alliance's surrender, both resigned from military service and married. Their peace ended less than a year later when Alliance authorities, pressured by Reinhard von Lohengramm, arrested Yang. Frederica participated in his rescue, lethally intervening to stop an Alliance officer attempting his execution. She then resumed her role as his adjutant during subsequent campaigns.
Exhaustion from the Battle of the Corridor confined Frederica to bed, preventing her from accompanying Yang to negotiations with Reinhard. After Yang's assassination, she became the political representative for the Yang Fleet (later the Iserlohn Republic), endorsing Julian Mintz as military commander. She privately expressed she "would rather had democracy die than Yang," reflecting her profound personal loss.
Frederica maintained mentorship roles, advising individuals like Spartanican pilot Katerose von Kreutzer. Her character blended competence and compassion, transitioning from military aide to political figurehead amid tragedy.
