Description
Nagare Amano is a central character in the anime Hero Bank. He is a fifth-grade elementary school student and a member of the Gappori Company, a small group of friends who operate a part-time help service. Within the company, he holds the unofficial title of "head of whatever," but he constantly struggles with a sense of inferiority toward his friend and de facto leader, Kaito Gōshō. This feeling of inadequacy is the driving force behind his actions throughout the series.
In terms of personality, Nagare is initially portrayed as a kind, gentle, and supportive companion who cares deeply about his friends and is always willing to lend a hand. He is diligent and hardworking, yet he harbors a fierce competitive streak. A natural strategist, he can think quickly and adapt to changing situations in battle. However, his desire to prove himself often overshadows his more considerate nature, leading him to take drastic measures.
Nagare's primary motivation is to surpass Kaito and gain recognition as a capable hero in his own right. This ambition drives him to sign a contract with a mysterious entity known as the Money Ghost. The contract erases his previous identity and grants him a powerful hero suit called the Dominion Dollar. This decision marks a major turning point in his role within the story: he shifts from being a supportive friend to an antagonistic rival. However, as the narrative progresses, Nagare eventually undergoes redemption, reconciling with Kaito and returning to fight alongside him. In the later arcs, Kaito and Nagare are able to combine their abilities to form a combined hero suit known as the Endless Million, symbolizing their renewed partnership.
Nagare’s key relationships are centered on the Gappori Company. His bond with Kaito is the most significant; he both admires and resents Kaito, and his jealousy is the catalyst for his fall to the Money Ghost. He also maintains close ties with the other company members, Mitsuo Zaizen and Fukuta Kanemaru. His interactions with the Money Ghost and the main antagonist of the original game further shape his development, as they exploit his insecurities for their own ends.
Throughout the series, Nagare experiences a clear character arc: he begins as a loyal but insecure friend, transforms into a corrupted rival, and ultimately finds his way back to the side of his allies. His hero suits evolve alongside his journey. Early on, he uses the Snipe Sweeper suit in battles. After making the contract, he wields the Dominion Dollar, which later becomes the modified Justice Dollar. With Kaito, he can manifest the Endless Million. As a battler, Nagare is known for his strategic mind and his ability to use his suits to control the battlefield, whether through cleaning-based attacks with the Snipe Sweeper or more powerful offensive techniques with his later suits. His development underscores themes of self-worth, rivalry, and friendship, making him a compelling figure in the Hero Bank world.
